what are peoples opinion on this? is it exaggerated, legitimate, or is there an agenda behind this? I have seen quotes from 'experts' regarding the 'fast approaching climate emergency' from 40/50 years ago and here we are... if it is an emergency what will it look like and when is it coming?

The earth’s demise has been predicted every decade since the 60’s. We’ll all be dead in ten years! Gore and AOC are the more recent cryers of this disinformation. Scare tactics and fear mongering to push an agenda.

Greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon, without it we wouldn’t be here.
We are adding to these gasses in abundance which is exacerbating the problem.
We ****ed most of the Earth let’s he honest.
Birding is no longer what it used to be.

China the WORST polluter by double the USA. And TRIPLE since 90's. We at least stay the same. I know we shutdown a lot of coal boilers for Natural Gas.
I think every state should have a smog requirement unless it's a classic and driven like under 2000 miles a year or some sht like that.

Besides, it ain't the 'earth' dying we got to worry about... mother Earth seen plenty in her 4.5 billion year history and couldn't give a **** whether we mayflies live or go in the evolutionary trashbin... nah, our problem is us humans and our dependence on stretched food and water supplies which in turn depend on a fairly narrow and specific range of climatic conditions.

The U.S. is one of the most eco-friendly nations in the world. Climate activists need to direct their attention to the places they least want to confront. They need to take their bullhorns and picket signs to China, Russia, India, and elsewhere. Instead we have to go through the climate theatrics banning plastic straws and bags, and driving up gas prices to discourage car owners from buying gas powered cars. Meanwhile these climate activists leave a carbon footprint a 100x greater than the average American with their mansions, fleets of luxury cars, private jets, yachts, etc.On a per capita basis the US is amongst the worse emiters in the world - certainly amongst the larger nations - but that ain't really the point I was making. I wasn't trying to point fingers at individual countries - this is a global problem that affects all of us, but you seemed to be dismissing it altogether which is an increasingly untenable position.
Don't get me wrong, I don't for a second imagine this is going to be the end of the human race or anything but the coming decades are going to be a time of increasing shortages - of food, water, other resources, most likely violent conflict over who gets to control em and undoubtedly unprecedented levels of human migration and misery as climate change leads to changes in the cultivatable areas.
In the US and the UK or Western Europe our wealth should insulate us to a significant degree although we should anticipate a lot of changes in the lifestyles we've come to take for granted, but unheaval in other parts of the globe will inevitably have both social and econmic knock on effects.Damn Wicked

Environmentalists are about as accurate as TV evangelists.
Ever since the 1970s I remember environmentalists preaching climate emergencies. Back then it was the coming Ice Age. If we didn't follow their regulations and live like they demand we do, then we are doomed. When temps didn't fall as predicted, then it was the dreaded Ozone Hole. When that didn't come to pass, it changed to Global Warming. When the "hockey stick" doom-and-gloom predictions failed to pass, they again changed it to Climate Change.
Kinda like the TV evangelists. They told us if we allowed ******** that God would destroy us. When we legalized that and God didn't destroy us, they told us God would destroy us if we allowed gay marriage. We did that, and God didn't destroy us either. And those clowns are still predicting God destroying the US/American if we don't live as they tell us to.
But for whatever reason, really ****** people who do not have simple logic skills can't see the obvious scam and continue to follow these hucksters.Last edited by 1bad65; 06-18-2022, 03:51 PM.man down likes this.
