For a boxing forum, I'm surprised no one is offering insight on how they would've defended themselves in this situation.

There are few with actual experience, of any kind, with boxing. Have you noticed how the Training and Nutrition section has become a food gossip type of section? It's a dying breed, the knowledge. But knowledge can always be past on............Rockin'

I have experience in boxing and also street fighting, I was a bit rowdy in my younger years needless to say. I am always aware of my surroundings, period. When I was younger and went out with my friends, I was never the one to get obliterated drunk, because I always wanted to be in control of what was going on around me. Clubs and bars are filled with hooligans always looking to impress their friends or girlfriends by fighting. So I wanted to stay on guard so to speak. Anyway, its not that I am paranoid, but the world has taught me that no matter when you think you are safe, you aren't. Something can happen at any given moment and you need to be cognizant of that.

So what would I have done in that situation? Well if I had that bag like the victim, that 100% is going to become my shield. Understanding how speed and force work together, the main objective for me would be to smother his hand with the bag so he cannot wind up as far to create speed/momentum. After attempting to do that, with my free hand I am grabbing the handle of the hatchet. If I fail at that, I am using that bag again as a shield to try and push him down or away from me. I said this in a previous post, you have no idea how much your internal instinct to survive is when in these situations. Hopefully by now, I'm either out of there or he's knocked on the ground and I'm doing whatever I can do distance myself, aka running. No way am I ****** enough to play hero and try to fight the guy.
