Liverpool could be in that spot that Chelsea were previously.

If they were miss out on CL spots then they'll probably win the league next season especially as I heard they have players out injured.

Tbf, I think if Chelsea missed out we would win the league next season too I think. It is a strange dynamic. Especially next season when everyone is absolutely spent from the 2 previous seasons.

The financial incentives are so big that no club would want it but at the same time you would think a few of them would absorb the hit no problem. Chelsea and Man U being the likely ones.

Next season will be even madder than this season.

Tuchel is out if we didnt qualify. That's the double edge of that situation.

Liverpool would be healthy next season and could easily run the table on 1 game a week.

Tbh Chelsea from a slump are 1 point off 4th now from sitting 10th and Liverpool are suddenly flirting with losing CL spots.

Even in a poor season the PL is still more interesting than the other leagues.

I'd take it tbh. It could happen to Chelsea anyway even if Tuchel does pretty well. Leicester, Liverpool or Man U will need to fall away. I dont think you could make a case for Chelsea being better than any of those sides this season.

I just don't see top 4 as a thing. It would be different if I felt we could win the champions league. Which I don't.

Spurs are the best team we've beaten all season and that was without 50% of their 2 man team.

Tuchel is trying this 3 at the back thing to make us harder to beat and competitive but I doubt that's the formation he would like to play with the players we have. If we had stronger midfielders I feel like he would want a 4-2-2-2 side. But we need stronger mids.

I like Jorgi but maybe there is a way you can make it work but yesterday reminded me off all his weaknesses again with Sheff United players breezing past him.

I feel like if we are competitive with the better teams, maybe pick up a few wins against your Everton's and your Leicester's, maybe even a United and actually compete properly in a one off game with City away then Tuchel will almost certainly stay. He'll probably stay anyway.

He could point at Jorgi, Kova, Kante and even young Billy at this stage in his career and say those players aren't good enough to make us competitive for a title challenge. And then finishing 4th or 5th in real terms isnt really an endorsement of quality.

Chelsea have spent fortunes but picking up Havertz over Rice was bonkers and that is regardless of whether Havertz hit the ground running. I dont expect much from Havertz yet. It kind of foolish to expect an instant impact.

Mount is the second youngest player after Arjen Robben to hit 10 goals for Chelsea in the PL. Mount is a year older than Kai. To me that highlights the unique challenge of playing for Chelsea. Havertz will probably still beat Mount next season! Lol

. Chelsea needed tall, technical holding midfielder who is aggressive and has leadership qualities. I know Rice from watching him loads now and to me I'm pretty certain he would do the job but maybe there is someone else too?

Really could have used Zaha for this match, feel like there's going to be a lot of counter opportunities, but at least there'll be a chance to see Mateta with Eze playing further up

I'm not a big Tuchel fan but he's really doing and saying all the right things.

He's like a combination of Conte's professionalism with Brendan's ingenuity. But knowing Roman and Marina, they'll sack him because he's been very 'Italian' in these games.

That game against SHU was like watching a classic Serie A match. Two teams, tactically dueling each other in slow, careful matches with short bursts of excitement, followed by fouls and a bit of rough play.

I swear I was watching Milan vs Fiorentina there.

I'm not sure if Rice is the guy but Chelsea clearly need a midfielder like you stated though.

I'm not sold on Rice still. Good player. Tough player. However, he's still not Fabinho or Rodri; not Xabi Alonso. But how many players are around like that?

Take a punt on Javi Martinez when he leaves Bayern? That's the only one I can think of. Maybe Steven N'Zonzi like we did Thiago Silva?

The 4-2-2-2 does seem right for our attackers but it really puts Mount and Havertz to the way side.

They can't play wide, not with guys like Pulisic, CHO, and even Ziyech available. Timo is clearly the one who benefits most from it but there's no way Tuchel or anyone drops Tammy or Giroud to play tiny forwards with no presence.

Even Timo doesn't have a occupying presence. I'd even argue Tammy doesn't either, even if he is 6'4"; he falls over like he's Morata. But a front 2 of Timo + either of Mount or Havertz is asking for Ls.

Blimey Ziyech looks awful. So does Pulisic but Ziyech...

                Sheesh

He's not playing this season unless he does something.

I was excited about him but he's doesnt look like he has a lot of courage about him. He will need to go to an easier country to play his football. He seems surprised that people are trying to tackle him, lol

At least they won I guess.

Kepa!! Kepa! was man of the match.

Chelsea never look that good when Kante plays these days

Is it just me or does Ziyech look like he reads the game too slow?

He's reminding me a lot of Bakayoko. He couldn't read the game fast enough either, which is why he ****** with us but was good in Italy and France.

For all the talent Ziyech does have, it's useless if he's on windows 98 in the year 2021. At 27 years old, he's not improving it either.

I won't be surprised if we get tossed by City or Liverpool either tbh.

Sheffield and Barnsley showed some big time cracks in Tuchel's system and teams like City and Pool will likely exploit the hell out of it.

I think there were a few mitigating circumstances.

                      1. being that pitch was deemed unplayable just 4 days before. And tbf nobody at Chelsea would have played on a pitch like that since they were children

                      2. Barnsley had 12 days off prior

                      3. Barnsley played really really really well.

But yeah, Ziyech had no idea what to do.
