Naughty Dog not making cartoony platformers.

When asked if the team misses the cartoonish styling of their Crash and Jak era, Josh had to say this on the matter:

"No, I don't, because we've got an amazing team of people making some really expressive performances with our current stable of realistic characters. I mean, animating the stylised stuff is a lot of fun, but the stories that we're trying to tell right now are a little bit more grounded and a little bit more grown up than they were back in the Jak and Daxter days." ?Josh Sherr
And when he was asked if this is because of the members of Naughty Dog simply getting older, Josh said this:

"I think that's part of it. I think that it's also dictated by what the market wants, too. You know, that was a lot of what our decision was bounded by and based on when moving from Jak and Daxter to something more like Uncharted. And it's also what we're interested in, too." ?Josh Sherr

RIP Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter.

Too many games take themselves too seriously. Loved Crash/Jak games because they were just fun, everything about them. Look at Mario Kart/Mario games on the Nintendo...they're so fun and sell like hotcakes.

I wish they could make more games at the same time, I think they focus on one game as a studio at a time and the process they must go through to make a game Naughty Dog standard is pretty lengthy so it takes quite a while for each game to come out. They make excellent games.

They killed Crash Bandicoot by pumping out crap games to cash grab. Sadly that's how most series end up.

Exactly. Last of Us was, well, phenomenal.

They haven't made a crash game since PS1 bro? They sold the franchise to activision a long long time ago that have absolutely no involvement in those cash grab games.

Naughty Dog are only responsible for Crash 1, 2, 3 and Crash Team racing on PS1 they have not developed any Crash game since 1999 and all those games were fun as hell.

I think Jak&Daxter is fine as it is, didn't play Lost Frontier or Jak X but apparently I wasn't missing out much. I don't need another one. I also hope they don't do a Last of Us sequel that game is a self contained story in itself. I wouldn't mind another game in the Last of Us Universe though.

Naughty Dog never owned Crash. Universal Interactive Studios did.

I actually had no idea! I always thought they owned it and just weren't allowed to work on it because they sold it.
