    Closed or open fist guard?

Should you keep your fists closed, or open hands when you are sparring? Asking this because Ive read hands open, close on impact?but watching pros shadow box they keep them closed. When I say closed, I dont mean squeezing your forearms and tensed up like a bodybuilder.

If you are a right handed fighter you should have your left fist closed and ready to fire while your right hand is left open to catch jabs and hooks.....Rockin'

open, always... you close on delivery

especially your back-hand, that is central for defence

when your fist is punched into your face, it may as well not be there... a open hand helps you catch/cushion

This is the correct answer. If I am facing a southpaw I will have both hands open. I like to knock down the jab with my Lead hand and then shoot a quick jab over top their lead hand.
