    Knuckle/Skin help...

First off let me say I box just as a hobby and a way to stay in shape. I have been doing it off and on for 15 years.

I have been having issues lately with the skin on my knuckles constantly being peeled back and bleeding after hitting the heavy bag. I use Velcro wrist wraps and have tried multiple gloves (evening Winning) with the same issue.

Anyone have any tips I can try?

    Thank you!

Did you take some time off and just start back in? The reason I'm guessing that's the case is because skin calluses itself to build up a protective layer within a few weeks.

If you're somehow not growing calluses, use a different wrap. The gauze style is great. I think it's called "LeRoy". You can use it under regular wraps. You can also just use gauze or something soft.

Winning gel inserts are nice on the hands. That has less to do with abrasions but can help work overall hand health.

It can be a difficult thing to work around but make sure you take care of these abrasions to avoid infection. I use new skin liquid bandage sometimes it can help

Jack Demspey always said he soaked his hands in brine to toughen the skin. But I don't know if that's medically sound advice.

Could be your old hand wraps. Sometimes I think they get all this salt absorbed into them and makes them tough. Sometimes I’ll get a blister when using a new pair of gloves ( usually cheap ones). Sometimes I would put some
Moleskin on a blister and wrap it with some medical tape before wrapping my hands.

I was about to say the same thing.

I always tape my hands even for bag work, and I use gauze under the knuckles to keep them from getting torn up. Letting them rest and heal completely before going hard again helped a lot too. Also been focusing on getting in shape overall—started looking into the !

Try improving your hand wrapping technique for better knuckle protection, ensure your gloves fit well (not too tight or loose), use moisturizer or healing balm on your knuckles before and after training, consider adding extra padding or gel inserts in your gloves, and allow time for your skin to heal between sessions.
