well i've learned to not treat a heavy bag exactly like a fight because , how you train reflects how you can naturally/instinctively act in the ring. I mean it's not a big factor if u spar regularly but, at the same time I feel it would be healthy to hit the bag exactly how you fight in the ring.

I always just thought of the heavy bag as boxers form of punch stamina/strength and the chance to apply full force to technique and combinations.

I like his concept on the bag AFTER SPARRING!! Other than that the heavy bag is to improve power technically and increase stamina!!!
I liked his routines and his imagination was refreshing. That type of workout has been done for many years and it is to change up from the norm and just "freelance"!

As far as his technique goes I think its very good!! His body type makes it difficult to keep his elbows down and throw a better punch from a distance but its an advantage as he grets close!! Nice double and triple hooks and a quick jab woith good snap and power when he steps in!!!! Right hand needs some work but again his body type makes that technique more difficult!! Over all from what I saw and what I hear on here he'll kick the crap out of 98.5% of the people on here hahahaha!!!!!....................good job, insightfull and honest!!! Ray.

I don't see how anyone can take issue with his routine. Then the first thing 80% of the people here want to do with these videos is nitpick and criticize the most insignificant details. Obnoxious boxing snobs lol.

And I watched one of his amateur fights on his channel and you can tell he has solid skills. He probably could work most of the people here (except for me...if I trained real hard lol).

When I lead drills at the gym, I do inside vs. outside drills on the heavy bag. It's a good way to mix up the workout AND work on specific skill sets.

This is a great video. Every workout should incorporate various amounts of what he did in this clip.

I think most rounds you should "shadowbox" the bag and work on various things....visualizing the opponent, work on moving around staying loose and in a rhythm, staying in the moment, learning to think in the ring while exercising the imagination too. My coach says "always have something going on in your head, some music, think about what you do", or you could just say it's good having intentionality to what you're doing.

But I've seen videos of guys like Foreman, Dempsey, Tyson, just working the same punch or punches on the bag, honing technique like you would a good deadlift or clean and jerk, working out the kinks in the technique or perhaps just working the punching muscles to fatigue to build them up.

There's a time for that too, but I wouldn't consider that to be your "bag rounds" where you are really improving your overall fight game. That's just a type of strength training and should be considered that, on the side.

Did he really duck UNDER the bag? Look like he was dancing with the bag.
