    Muay Thai fighter claims these punches aren't boxing punches

    Set him straight. I think I would call them short hooks but what you call them isn't important. That's just semantic.

    Help me out dudes.

    There aren't that many types of punches.

    Jab
    Cross
    Left hook
    Right hook
    Left uppercut
    Right uppercut
    Overhand Left
    Overhand Right
    Backfist
    Hammerfist

    That's really about it. Backfists and hammerfists aren't legal in boxing but every other punch is one of the above.

      That's not what the OP is about. He claims the punch is improper.
