    How much running is appropriate to cut up?

    Once again I've been side tracked from working out. I'm giong to give it another go next week. I'm a little unsure of how much running to do. My old routine I was doing like 2 miles, 6 days a week.
    Of course I would adding in crunches everyday along with some weight lifting (nothing too much).

    Anyone have any idea how many calories I should be intaking to slim down?
    I'm 5'10'' 167lbs.
    I want to get down to 152lbs.

    if you want to get cut up, along with exercise, be sure to control your calories and get lots of sleep.

        Well said. Oversleeping messes people up. Anything more than 7 hours and you feel sluggish and probably less likely to train. you need to be rested not overrested.

          when you sleep, your metabolism drastically slows. in this reduced state your body burs fat almost exclusively. lengthening the fat burning process(sleep) leads to a drop in body fat. a lower amount of body fat will make someone appear more "cut up". did i spell it out for you well enough?

            Where did you read that? Not saying you are wrong, but I'd like to read some articles about it.

            Generally speaking, the faster your metabolism, the faster you lose weight.

              learned it in a general health and fitness class. it has to do with the fact that your breathing slows while you sleep and fat produces more anaerobic ATP than carbs. that's the reason most dietitians recommend abstaining from carbs at least an hour and a half before bed. If you want a more elaborate answer pm me.

                  I don't believe that mumbo jumbo scientific theory stuff. They always have too many. In practice, excess sleep makes you tired and lazy. I know bums who sleep alot and they train like bums. 7-8 hours max. If you really want to feel energy pwernap and have a mid afternoon siesta for a few minutes. That **** works. Forget the science and theory, and be pragmatic. What works is what's best. Sleep doesn't help unemployed bums lose weight I just see them getting fatter.

                    okay here's my thoughts and what I do. First, I lift a lot, low weights high rep because that will train your body to have endurance which is what you need for when your boxing. Second, I am always running or doing something to keep my body active. So if your just sitting around, go and start punching your bag around or whatever, jump rope, whatever keeps your body moving. And as for the whole "sleeping" issue, dont worry, just get a good's night sleep every night and i'm sure you'll be fine. Hope that helps..
