Comments Thread For: Arum Views Christopher Diaz as Big Risk For Shakur Stevenson

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum does not view Puerto Rico's Christopher Diaz as an easy opponent for Olympic silver medal winner Shakur Stevenson. The contest will be staged as part of the ESPN Pay-Per-View undercard to the welterweight battle between WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford and challenger Amir Khan.

I like Diaz, seen him fight a few times live, but what I think will hold him back from greatness is he is short with t tex arms bad combo against skilled boxers with reach. I think Stevenson will use his smarts and keep Diaz honest.

Point blank - this is what you call a fighter stepping up, big time! Respect!

What type of reference did arum make of his black fighter? He may be partially correct but dang...if Shakur loses he would lose his followers? Your job as a promoter is to have a rebuild plan. But the Hispanic fighter will have many options even if he loses? That's cold. I'll be opting out soon as possible if Shakur knew better.

Tank better watch his back. Shakur is all skilled up with a better persona. A little more muscle wont do him any harm.

Pitufo is a good fighter but he showed his limits as a fighter against Ito. I think this is smart matchmaking for Stevenson because I think the style contrast suits him well and he should be able to look impressive. That is not to take anything away from Diaz, whom I think is very good, or from Stevenson (provided he wins). It would be a very good win for the prospect's resume.
