    Losing Interest?

Ive noticed I have been checking my boxing news much less than usual. I'm still a big fan of the sport and looking forward to the fight schedule, but im tired of reading all the gossip articles about im ready to fight blah blah, and hes scared to fight blah blah, etc. I find myself just checking the boxing fight schedule and just tuning in. I can't lie Im also pretty bummed that we are not getting crawford vs spence for a long time if ever. I feel we should get that fight before the summer instead of making us wait maybe 2 years. Its such a great fight that should happen soon.

True. I think things will pick up around Feb/March. I didn't even care for the Jacobs fights and I'm only looking forward to Fury/Wilder for the rest of the year.

That makes sense. I enjoy some sh^t talking if its good, but 90%+ of the sh^t talking in boxing seems forced & contrived & I know some cats don't like any of it so fair play if thats the case with you. Generally the gossip sh^t seems to be SM driven so as long as you stay away from SM (although I guess that could include a site like this one often) you can avoid that.

And f#ck yea I'm completely on board with the business of boxing & the art of promotion f#cking up the desire of fans & the legacy of fighters.

The best should ALWAYS be fighting the best in boxing like what happens in every other sport. Boxing could be improved tomorrow if anyone with some power decided that boxing should make as much sense as other sports.

You need a centralized power structure that runs & looks out for boxing first & foremost. You don't need this bs which works like a ton of small businesses all looking out for their own good first & foremost.

Some QB in the NFL or some pitcher in the MLB can't control their own destiny quite like a boxer can, a promoter can for a boxer or a manager for a boxer. Thats cool that boxers have so much control of their destiny, but it always greatly damages the quality control of boxing which is one of the least competitive sports at the elite level cuz there is very little ability in keeping unproven fighters from getting big fights.

At the highest level of the sport no top ten guy should be fighting a guy you could say is #38 or #52 or even further down. The top guys should ONLY be fighting each other at the tip top level.

This is how things work in every other f#cking sport basically. Certainly every major sport that one could say is above boxing in the minds & hearts of sports fans.

Thats a huge mfing problem for the integrity of the sport that there is no quality control at any f#cking level of the sport.

      /my rant lol

Boxing becomes more imperfect almost every day. I'll always love it and follow it closely because I respect the fighters so much and I enjoy watching the sport but the politics is a big turn off I've got to say. The fragmented state of having basically three boxing leagues now and the obsession with the "0" and protection of so many fighters and over marination of matches have left me far less passionate about the current generation than others which I was far more enthusiastic about. Hopefully it's just a phase but it's been a long one already.

Also, I don't know if it's because of the state of the sport but the "fans" have gotten worse and worse and make boxing very difficult to discuss intelligently on forums like this. I guess because there's more roadblocks now, a lot of fans are more interested in who's ducking who than who's fighting who and according these "fans" their fighter is never the ducker, he's always the one ducked and unfairly treated. A rather worrying number of fans are more interested in what their idol makes than what happens in the sport and actively root for the sport to fail unless it's their mancrush. Look at how many threads are troll threads hating fighters, look how many threads are poking fun at the drawing power of a guy or the ticket sales or a fight or it's low TV ratings. It's more common to see these threads than positive threads or mature adult discussion threads. Even on facebook look at something this site posts and if it says "draws x amount tv viewers" you'll see the laughing icon at the bottom and people trashing it. What kind of **** is that? These fake fans are in the majority and don't have enough respect for the sport, the fans and the fighters to actually attend the fights themselves so they laugh at how poorly events are doing because their mancrush isn't involved. I am convinced at least a quarter, probably more of this forum actually wishes for the sport to stop and only watches fights because of what other fans said about their fighter. "You say something mean about my idol so I hate your guy" kind of thing. Our sport has the most negative, disloyal, most bandwagon and pathetic of any sport by far which makes it difficult to discuss it online outside of invite only/private forums.

It's Clenelo Alvaroid nuthuggers, they will kill enthusiasm in any boxing fan. I blame them.

                Yea for sure.

Randomly does ANYONE enjoy the politics of boxing??? Like I've heard some stockholm syndrome kinda crap with a couple guys in my time big upping the 4 title belt system, which is part of the politics I guess, but I don't think I've every heard anyone who is a big fan of the whole boxing sphere of political bs that seems to always divide boxing.

LOL yea my thinking as well. I do get some positive vibes with the WBSS tournament which I think is among the best things for boxing currently. I just wish it'd gain more traction with fans cuz I don't think its talked about enough. But it wasn't on US platforms the first go around & this 2nd go around its on a new sub service. So I think its destined to not catch full fire til the 3rd season with US fans & I'd hope they go more US-centric with the 2019-2020 season with that thought in mind.

I wouldn't necessarily argue with any of this, but I do think there are levels to being a fan & I see this in all sports. Like I don't follow any non-combat sports sports. Well I'll casually watch other sports, but I give zero f#cks about them. But what my point is even as a casual observer of other sports I can spot a hardcore or casual fan of any sport from a mile away usually upon them opening their mouth. I can see casual fans of boxing about a marathon distance away. And thats just gonna be the reality. There are some people who like boxing enough that they watch it often or more then the average sports fan, but aren't invested in it the way I feel like you are saying you are & the way I feel like I'm with you on.

And thats ultimately fine. People like what they like about something & fair play to them. Some mfers just aren't that deep. Its not real people to them. Or even if they see boxers as real people they can't see beyond themselves or their own feelings. Not even trying to diss people for that cuz when I watch other sports my initial thoughts of it usually lean far away from putting much into it beyond my own thoughts, feelings & likes & dislikes. But some cats feel like that about boxing too. And they still like & watch & are fans of the sport for what they get out of it that is just different from what you & I get out of it maybe. Hell man thats one of the reasons I use my ignore list *******ly cuz some cats here just sh^t on boxing too much for my liking.

Fair play to them for voicing their opinion about something, but I often don't respect their opinion when everything they view in boxing is thru sh^t stained glasses. And I see all the negative sh^t in boxing to. I'm not blind. But I see the pureness & beauty & competition & dreams being reached & disappointment & failure & emotion of fighters & all the things that at its core is what makes boxing great to me that I think only a small segment of guys on a forum like this could appreciate on a day to day basis. And that'll always win the day for me & steer my love of the sport more than the bs that we dislike in the sport.

like with everything in life you go through lows and highs, you just on a low right now your probably over loaded yourself with too much boxing and are burnt out on it. Do what you feel like doing, take a break skipping a few cards not being up to date on the boxing news etc you might find reinvigorates your passion for the sport down the road.
