the WBO have told talkSPORT.com that, as Povetkin is #1 in their rankings too, the bout also counts as their mandatory defence.

“Anthony Joshua is the WBO ‘Super Champion’ in the heavyweight division and will make his mandatory defence when he faces Alexander Povetkin on September 22,” revealed the WBO rep.

“Joshua has 18 months before he has to make his next mandatory defence.”

We know why AJ /Hearn swerved Wilder for Povetkin-again you have decided to act like the DAZN situation has nothing to do with Hearn constructing the offer in a way he knew would be rejected. Again, no one can force you to to be honest about what happened.

Deflecting to Usyk has no bearing on this. It's simple- this is yet another barrier Hearn likely created to prevent the AJ/Wilder fight.

The only question is why because most of us think AJ is better and should win.

AJ vs DW in April 2019 won't be possible anyway bcs of a rematch clause. Cuz no matter who wins (DW or TF), the loser will have a right for a rematch, right?

Pulev vs Hughie Fury will decide the IBF mandatory, and that's happening October 27th. My guess is that the mandatory will be due by the end of 2019/early 2020.

There won't be an undisputed champion until 2020 at the earliest, and I'm not even considering the ****ty deals they'll offer Wilder/Fury to delay the fights even further. Sorry folks!

Sad but true. Damn, this is disappointing.
At this point, assuming he beats Fury and they don't rematch, Wilder could increase his expected value on career earnings by fighting AJ for $0 in April. Assuming it's a 50/50 and Wilder makes say $40M for the rematch if he wins. Expected value for 2019 is $20M, which probably exceeds what he could make fighting three times vs. Breazeale, Ortiz 2 (?) and maybe Chisora (?).

And the IBF uses the baseline standard of 90 days between fights for the mandatory. They may not enforce strictly, but theoretically AJ would have to fight the winner by July 2019 which is ridiculous especially following a tough fight.

They can send all of the contracts they want, but Wilder isn't signing anything until a fair contract is sent over. Wilder has moved on from Joshua. I watched one of Hearn's recent interviews concerning the Wilder/Fury fight, and Hearn thinks that Wilder is probably getting 15 million and Fury is getting maybe 10 million. Hearn also said that Fury would probably get 20 million if he fought Joshua. Hearn also admitted that the Joshua/Wilder fight would be bigger than Joshua/Fury. So, do you still think a 15 million flat fee offer to Wilder is fair?
