Povetkin vs fury?

At this stage, I'd have to go with Povetkin! Fury has been too inactive to be favored to beat someone on the level of Povetkin in his first fight back this year. He'd need a few tuneup fights first.

In his first fight back, Fury would get ko'd. Anyone who watched Fury like 6 years back remembers how smaller, less competent guys used to walk right up to him and wobble him with clean punches. He got better after that but with 3 years inactivity, he's going to be worse than he's been in a while. A 2015 Fury might be able to use his reach to keep Povetkin off him but not in his first fight back after a long stretch of obesity and drug use.
People are under this fantasy that 2015 Fury is going to be coming back to boxing. That guy is gone and he'll never be at that level again.

Mr objectivity & Redd, one thing you're both forgetting is, is fury is a natural fighter like Floyd he's been fighting since he was a child most gypsys do.
Furys problem was the fat but he's lost most of that and with proper sparring he would be ready for September and I could see him out boxing povetkin. You don't lose 20 plus years of muscle memory at Tysons age after a couple years offLast edited by PsychoPat; 04-05-2018, 05:38 PM.

Styles make fights! Despite Wladimir Klitschko beating Povetkin and despite Fury beating Wladimir Klitshcko. I can see how stylistically, Povetkin can beat Fury.
Even 2015 version of Fury would probably have more difficulties against Povetkin than he did against Wlad. Win, lose or draw. Purely because of styles!

Povetkin has a guaranteed shot against Joshua. He wouldn't give that up to face Fury.
Fury plans to fight Briggs in September. Povetkin is a bigger risk than Fury would be willing to face in September.
