Comments Thread For: Roach on The Miguel Cotto vs. Mikey Garcia Possibility

Mikey Garcia (37-0, 30 KOs) has made some noise on social media regarding his interest in facing WBO junior middleweight titlist, Miguel Cotto. Cotto had been hoping to face the winner of last week's middleweight bout between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez. Because that bout went to a draw, they are more interested in a rematch - possibly in May of 2018 - which rules both out for Cotto this year.

Mikey too small, he will get pushed around. The only reason they are the same height is because Mikey got a big head and long neck

Easy fight for Cotto. He'll walk through Mikey and hurt him.

Why are people pushing this fight. When the real "move-up" fight everyone should be talking about is GGG vs. Ward?

Even at far from his best Cotto would beat Garcia who''s giving up too much weight and size and at what weight Miguel was ready to fight Triple G is he going to kill himself to get down to 154??? I doubt it...

Mikey should fight Omar Figueroa Jr.! That would be an entertaining fight, although it won't be a title fight, unless they can (and should) get the WBC to sanction it as a Jr. Welterweight title fight!

GGG won't budge an ounce from the 160 lb limit. Not an ounce!

I hate this fight for Mikey and I'm a huge fan of his. Cotto is too big and he has too many better options. Stay at 135, stay at 140 Crawford is leaving the division you can grab up all those belts. Or if you need a big money fight there are haymon guys at 147 (and even that might be too big for him right now). But after 1 fight where it was clear he didn't have same power jumping to140 you want to leap up 2 more weight classes your next fight? and while cotto is getting old he is still very skilled and strong. His management team needs to be fired if they allow that to happen. Way too many good fights he can get at 135,140,147 to have to resort to taking that type of risk.

And if I'm roach of course I love this fight you putting cotto in with a guy who 4 fights ago was a super featherweight.

Cotto should throw Garcia a bone by giving him a catchweight of 151-152lbs. Cotto could make such a weight easily and it would make the fight a bit fairer even though I think Cotto beats up Mikey and stops him.
