Meanwhile, the Aussies get to feel good about their lad for a few days, and the news media has something to feast on; Horn has a belt now, which is leverage--they could even build up to a rematch with a fight in between.

Whichever way, Bob and his pals have options!

      Everyone can be happy.

It is all but Pareto optimal.

Horn missed some shots but Manny missed even more shots. I've never seen Pacquaio look so bad. He was lunging in and missing huge punches all night. Not sure if Pac is just too old to compete at the top level still or if it was Horn that was making him look so horrible.....I think it's both.

Manny was missing badly and when he did land most shot were not flush....BUT you saw how great the guy was when he was landing he was lighting Horn up but he was only looking for one shot and not setting up combos

ill hate myself, give in and watch this fight.

heres the thing though. somewhat fair outcomes usually dont illicit ''outrage''.

i dont recall outrage over pac getting the nods over jmm.
i recall rage over cj ross scoring the may canelo fight
i dont recall outrage over canelo spanking sol
i do recall ''rage'' when rios battered alverado

what im trying to say is, people dont usually scream about ''robberies'' unless theres a reason.

and again, punch stats. theyre the best when they prove the right guy won. nonsense science if the wrong guy wins. some cnuts must having shlt both ways.

im guessing this is pac vs timmy 1 all over again

I really don't get the cries either. You can't have it both ways in boxing, if you are aggressive against boxers/movers then people would claim you won. Horn was aggressive non stop, I personally didn't think he won but it was a close fight. Even the guys from Boxnation scored it to Horny.

I had it 115-112 for Manny.

There were lots of swing rounds where Horns workrate and clubbing grazing shots were offset by Manny's more precise work. I gave more of those swing rounds to Horn, but there were a couple i gave to Manny which could have given Horn a 1 point win.

So i can see why people are claiming robbery, even if I dont agree, if you gave more swing rounds to Pac then your card would look pretty wide. And then factor in the awful scorecard from one of the judges.

Personally I think that same fight, held anywhere else outside of Australia, ends with a decision going to Pacquiao

That said there were a lot of close, swing type rounds that coulda went either way

And I by no means think that it's crazy to have a judge score it very narrowly for Horn

My question is -- ALL THREE cards going to Horn?? Not to mention that atrocious 117-111 card in favor of Horn?? I guarantee you the vast overwhelming majority opinion is that Pacquiao won the fight. It's literally probably something like 70-30, or even f**king 80-20 dare I say in favor of Pacquiao ultimately winning that fight.

So how the f**k do three human beings in a row, one of which was a blowout card -- score it all for Horn?

Look Lou DiBella has forgotten more boxing than any one of us here at boxing scene have ever (and will ever) known.

DiBella is a longtime promoter, the founder of DiBella Entertainment and before that a boxing executive at HBO. He knows the sport as well anyone and had watched the bout on Saturday, and he told me that “three sixth graders who had never seen a fight before would have been more accurate.”

“There’s no way on God’s earth that a rational person who knew anything about boxing could have scored the fight for Horn,” DiBella continued. “He showed great heart but landed fewer than eight punches a round.”

“Boxing fans are so used to this kind of garbage,” DiBella said. “Questionable judging on three fights in two days over one weekend reinforces the narrative that’s a major contributing factor in what turned the sport of kings into something that’s now in the ‘other sports’ column on major web sites. It’s been a long, steady decline downward and the expectations of boxing fans don’t preclude nights like last night. Boxing fans expect that decisions like that are somewhat routine.”

I agree with DiBella that the fact Horn lost even though three judges said he won should not take away from his performance. He entered the Pacquaio fight a heavy underdog and pressured Pacquiao from the opening bell to the final one, exposing Pacquiao as a champion whose prime has ended, who is no longer the powerful, dizzying, spectacular athlete who charmed the sports world en route to winning fighter of the decade (and to underscore that point, he was the fighter of the last decade, not this one). Horn met an Old Pacquiao and turned in the proverbial fight of his life. Respect. “He still lost,” DiBella said. “And it was a Rocky I-like performance. But anyone who watched Rocky-1 knows that Rocky lost.”

DiBella also scored the fight 9-3 in Pacquiao’s favor. He even watched the replay of the bout on ESPN as late Saturday turned to early Sunday. Started to watch, anyway, and turned it off after six rounds. His opinion had only hardened upon a second look. He didn’t even make it to the ninth round on his repeat viewing, which is where Pacquiao battered Horn so badly the referee told Horn that if he didn’t show anything in the 10th the ref would stop the fight.
