Actually the MW champ is so weak that he was taken to a controversial decision by a former 135er and lost to another welterweight. He only beat one of them with a glass chin in a back and forth war. They needed to boost up Hagler to make Leonard more sensational. GGG showed you how a MW vs a WW should look like. Hagler vs Duran or Leonard is not how it should look. They only became ATG's because Hagler was weak as a MW champ.



That is the reality. you are sold by sensationalism. The boxing world doesn't begin and end with America now like it was back then. Boxing has become much bigger in other countries. the talent pool today is much larger than it was back then. more weight classes, more olympic entries etc.

so the competition is actually better, this is a statistical fact. Golovkin's talent pool is even higher than it was back in the hagler/leonard days.

To be considered a great, you have to beat a great or near great fighters. For now, he is just a solid champion who will be remembered as such and time may run out on him before he reaches superstar or if he could reach superstar status. Nothing wrong with just being a memorable but not ATG fighter. Over 99% of all fighters who lace up will never come close to winning a world title. He has done that. Just be realistic to what he is and what he isn't. Don't let fanboyism blind you to the reality of his position in the pantheon of time. Come back when his career is over and lets see what he has accomplished by then. Hopefully he will get a true superfight against Canelo or one other fighter to be looked at in a higher esteem.
