when is the fight with verdejo and who is the tune up, when is it?

anyway, thats your opinion...I respect it....still doesnt change the fact he was an elite lightweight of his era

he beat freitas who only lost to Corrales and was undefeated and unified at 130 and a titlist at 135...freitas was elite for the era and he beat him.

Julio Diaz was one of the better fighters at 135 too, and he beat him to get the ibf and diaz was in his prime at his best weight, not the gatekeeper Porter could barely beat at 147

just because you arent fund of a guy doesnt mean they were not one of the best and he was.

GGG hasnt beaten any great competition, does that mean he is not an elite middleweight? actually he only fought for 1/3 belts. Lemieux is a meh, type of fighter. Lost to rubio and alcine, not exactly a world beater but talented

He has a fight scheduled for next month. Freits quitting against corrales diminished his stock for me, plus he was a bit of an overachiever to begin with. I doubt diaz would have won any belts if he had to go through castillo, corrales or casamayor. The timing was good for him and he got a big push. I'm not saying i don't like the guy, he had an exiting style and made for good fights, just saying how i saw it. If he had more punching power, he would gave been harder to deal with, but the guy just had 1 gear most of the time, full throttle...it was really his undoing in the the fights he lost. He could potentially come back a bit better and more experienced if he learned anythig. As far as ggg goes, he looks the goods because of the dominant fashion he deals with the opposition in front of him. When he gets in with top opposition, if he ever does, then all the questions will get answered. Personally, i think he's gonna wait too long and slip. I thought i saw signs of it in his last fight. It's gonna be a situation where everyone is gonna say he got exposed and was never anything etc.

no one can pick their era

its like saying danny garcia or brook wouldnt have won belts in the late 2000s, with manny, floyd, mosley, and cotto around...it doesnt matter if they would be or not, its about facts not hypotheticals. None of the guys today would get anywhere near a title at 135 if they had to face casamayor, freitas, corrales and Castillo...that era was underrated.

Freitas was no overachiever....he had talent and made the most of it....also he revealed boxing skills when he started fighting top guys on the regular...he beat some good fighters.

Its easier to say he quit but he was also fighting the hardest puncher at 130-135 to come around since a prime shane mosley

GGG gets hit too much for the level of fighter he fights...maybe he doesn't respect their power but it could also be bad habits

GGG has a lot of talent but I dont look at him as no more than what he is...a good fighter with belts but a thin resume....time to piss or get off the pot....."they ducking doe" literally has to be the deadest horse on the pasture...their is more to it than that, they are wasting his prime trying to make him a star he may never become.

Fighters get lambasted on here daily for fighting in weak eras etc...it just comes down to whether or not you're a fan of them. Diaz was just never on that top level...just my opinion. Speaking of dead horses, i think this has run it's course. What's going on with ggg is indicative of what's always been a trend in the sport. Build a star and cash in...but he just can't quite make it over the top. He really needed a canelo or cotto fight to get the ball rolling...his team put all their eggs in that basket. Once a fighter gets on that level, then it's all big money fights from there on. He doesn't have enough time left to start from scratch so unfortunately he's probably just gonna keep chasing canelo. I was very hopeful around the time of the proksa- stevens fights but at this point, i don't even care anymore, he's past his prime and not getting any good fights....on to the next.
