I've watched two PBC events now, the latest being the Garcia card and I have to say, I am impressed. The presentation is stellar, commentators could be a bit more colourful, the camera angles are way superior to HBO and Showtime. They give you a real inside look at the action as it unfolds.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I think he's good for boxing. He's picking boxers with real potential and putting them against some solid opponents, obviously not world class, but isn't that how all boxers start out?

So far, I've watched two PBC events and they are miles ahead of HBO and Showtime in terms of action and objective analysis - none of that one sided commentary you get from Lampley and his minions. There's something different in the way PBC do things, it seems like they have recognised the main gripes about current boxing fights and catered for an audience that appreciates action over hype.

I see PBC as becoming the legitimate go to for fighters in a similar vain as the UFC. There's no sinister motives as everyone claims. Don't listen to the cynics. Haymon is an absolute godsend to boxing.
I hope OP remembered the lube or else Al Haymon's member might be chafed raw in the morning

The PBC has put on some very good fights, I will give them that. I may not like everything about it, but I don't like everything on HBO either. There have been some good fights, some dull fights and a few horrific mismatches.

However, it is not all free.

Thurman vs Guerrero- Was on NBC, it was free
Santa Cruz vs Mares. ESPN, not Free
Jacobs vs Quillen. Showtime, not Free, actually just the same price as HBO
Khan vs Algieri On Spike, not Free
Fonfara vs Cleverly On Spike, not Free
Huck vs Glowacki On Spike, not Free
Broner vs Porter Was on NBC, it was free
Garcia vs Peterson Was on NBC, it was free
Dirrell vs DeGaule Was on NBC, it was free
Dirrell vs Jack On Spike, not Free
Not even half these shows were free. Some were on Showtime, which is premium cable. Cable TV of any kind is not free guys.

Fair point. I am not sure why Haymon gets so much hate though. He seems to pay his fighters more than other promoters do. You have boxers like Kovalev, and Pacquiao getting significant amounts of their purses going in other directions, and Haymon is the one getting criticized for paying his fighters decent money.

Haymon has done an OUTSTANDING job with his fighters.

They're all starting to fight each other one by one in fan friendly fights.

People need to let the Mayweather-Pac drama go. We're all fight fans. You guys holding Haymon to the fire for being on Mayweather's side is grade school activity.

Move on with your lives and enjoy boxing every other weekend.

I am very happy to see boxing coming back to the main******. A WBC Welterweight title fight on FOX? That sounded crazy a few years ago.

Haymon has done well in getting these fights seen by people who might not be big boxing fans and hopefully making new ones in the process. HBO, Showtime and PPVs should be reserved for the absolute best match-ups possible and I think we are getting there.

In time, this will be great for the promotion of the sport. Imagine a real heavyweight title fight on NBC. Now that would be as great for the sport as any other even that I can imagine. When anyone and everyone cam watch for free, then, boxing comes back big time. I'd love to hear people talking about it the way that I hear so many football, basketball and baseball conversations. Main****** is great for the sport.

The idea of a niche sport is fine when you don't expect much in return but we all know human nature has told us that the majority of people can get excited about a fight. We always have. So the more these quality fights are shown, the more the players will be known and followed. I'm looking forward to future cards.

By the way, the Fonfara-Cleverly card has been the best so far IMO. If you haven't seen that one, check it out on YT(also for free!)

Not sure if you've noticed the PBC schedule lately, but it's pretty sparse. There's not another major PBC card scheduled (as of now) until March 12. And if you want to Nit-Pick, Thurman-Porter is being sold as a "Showtime on CBS" card and not a PBC card.

Not sure if they are struggling, re-organizing, or this was just part of the plan. But it would seem to me the time frame between now and the start of the NCAA tournament would be the ideal time to get PBC cards on because they wouldn't be competing with other major sports and 3/4 of the country has crappy weather and is sitting at home in front of the tv.

it's being produced by showtime, but i'm not sure it's accurate to say it isn't be "sold as" a PBC card . . .

I don't really know much about Haymon but the feedback's I read is that he does a remarkable job handling business in boxing.
