I been knowing since a child I didnt need the Ring to explain their rules to me -- their opinions are irrelevant to me now.

They don't release just 'opinions'... They issue rulings which do not contradict their own rules regarding the "championship policy'...
The fact that you find them 'irrelevant' doesn't automatically mean that they are flawed... You simply don't like them, that's all. But don't mind...

And those 'Rulings' come from the subjective creation of men.I will take your advise and dont mind them..they lost integrity and credibility in the eyes of the purist. Had a good chat nothing personal we just having fun.

The Ring Magazine 'lineal' belts are largely recognised at least for the Middleweight and Heavyweight divisions.
The Cotto-Canelo fight poster reads that they fought for the WBC and The Ring belts...

There is a Ring belt that is an actual belt that Ring awards. There is a lineal belt which doesn't actually exist physically from my understanding that can't be taken away unless you lose, retire or move weight divisions.

Lineal titles are overrated if the champion fails to actually defend them. The value of any title is defined by the actions of the fighter.


Over the history of the sport you see lineal titles broken all the time when the champion either retires or moves out of the division. Stevenson has failed to fight a top 5 LHW in 2 years, he deserves to be stripped. There's no excuse for Stevenson to be fighting such poor opposition. He has alot of money behind him and is a good draw in Montreal.

No excuse for Tommy Karpency, Sukhotsky or Sakio Bika. Fonfara surprised everyone giving Stevenson a good fight. He was an expected stay-busy fight. Adonis had the option to fight Pascal and refused. He dragged his feet to fight Hopkins so that Haymon could get the IBF title stripped from him and get it for his other fighter - Williams. Rather than negotiate with Main Events, they ordered the WBC purse bid when Kovalev was mandated to make his IBF mando.

There is a HUGE hole in your logic and you're parroting the emotionally intense, but logically flawed position perpetuated by Kovalev's team.

Sanctioning body rules explicitly state that "exclusive" contracts are NOT recognized and are no excuse for not accepting a fight.

Kovalev VOLUNTARILY signed a contract that only allows him to fight on HBO. Nobody had a gun to his head. Nobody forced him to do it. Stevenson was willing to fight him on whatever network bought the fight from whatever promoter paid the most for the fight. That is how a purse bid works. Kovalev is the one that requested the purse bid. Stevenson accepted and than Kovalev pulled out. Stevenson did everything in his power to make the fight and Kovalev ducked.

You can't hide behind a television contract and then claim the OTHER guy is ducking you. That's ridiculous.

And Stevenson would be fighting on HBO right now if HBO had matched Showtime's offer. HBO had the right of first refusal and was unwilling to pay Stevenson his fair market value.

And now Kovalev expects Stevenson to face him for less than fair market value? Get out of here with that nonsense. Duva may be able to fool a rube like you, but anybody that understands this business realizes what an obvious con that is.

on this particular point you are mistaken. Duva requested Kovalev be named mandatory challenger, she did NOT request a purse bid. She mistakenly thought that as mandatory challenger she would be able to negotiate the fight with Gym. But Gym did not want to negotiate, and requested that the WBC send it to purse bid. At that point, Duva could not participate due to the HBO conflict......

Stevenson did NOT pass on Hopkins. Hopkins was a Showtime fighter and Stevenson signed with Showtime specifically to fight Hopkins! Then Hopkins left Showtime to avoid him and went to HBO.

Stevenson agreed to a purse bid with Kovalev and Kovalev backed out. Stop falling for the propaganda HBO narrative. The facts are all easily verifiable.

This is another point on which we disagree. Stevenson going to Showtime was because of Haymon, not Hops. And Hops went to HBO not to avoid Stevenson, but because he got tired of waiting for Haymon to make the deal for the fight. Haymon had another agenda though and wanted Hops to get stripped of his title. Hops saw what time it was and agreed to the Kov fight.

Im certainly no fan of Bernard Hopkins, but to accuse him of ducking is absurd. Hops may be alot of things, but a ducker is not one of them.

I am not mistaken. In December 2014 at the WBC convention, Duva requested that Kovalev be allowed to fight for Pascal's diamond title, that Kovalev be named the mandatory in the event that he won and that there be a 50/50 purse bid.

It was only later that GYM asked that the previously requested purse bid be enforced as clearly any "negotiations" would be a waste of time.

At that point, Duva COULD participate. Kovalev's television contract expired after the Pascal fight. However, Duvas CHOSE not to participate, as she felt signing another contract with HBO was the best business decision.

Which was her right. I'm not saying she was wrong. But you can't blatantly duck a fight and then pretend the other side ducked you.

Yes you are. In the post I referenced you claimed Kovalev (Duva) called for a purse bid, and then refused to participate. That statement is inaccurate. She NEVER called for a purse bid.


Hint: Requesting to be named the mandatory challenger, and actually requesting a purse bid, are 2 completely different things.
