Boxing's a hyper-masculine sport in the face of which many 'fans' feel a sense of shrinking inadequacy. How else are they going to claw back a sense of manhood if not by spewing out self delusional derision? . . . By actually coming up to scratch? That would take courage and action. It's easier to prop up a fragile sense of worth by tearing into others.
This place is an equal blessing and curse for fans that care about the sport. There are good posters on here but there are many more who no longer post because of the negativity and outright hatred that's all too common, and that's a real shame.
This place isn't indicative of boxing fans though, it's indicative of how people act behind the anonymity of a keyboard. I've never met boxing fans in the real world who are so derisive of the sport.
