Geale is a very active, high output fighter but couldn't pull the trigger tonight. Cotto was just beating him to the punch and turning him.

Good performance by Cotto. Great footwork, great defense, great results.

Look forward to Canelo vs Cotto. Biggest fight that can be made not involving Floyd.
I absolutely can't wait for that fight.

    Has to happen.

Inexperience. Best fighters know to clinch.

Exactly. People want to blame Cotto for getting an advantage over Geale, but what about Geale squeezing down to a weight class he doesn't belong at to have a size advantage over smaller fighters?

He weighed 182 pounds tonight! That's crazy.

Haters love to hate. They can't help it. Don't give a crackhead crack. They will smoke it every time. That's what these boards are to them. A crack hit.

If Cotto beats GGG at the full 160lb, then he deserves all the credit in the world. The problem is that he'll probably want a catchweight and I think GGG is desperate enough to acquiesce.
Yup. Why woukd Cotto at weighing at 155-157 fight night want to fight ggg at 180 sumthin. Ggg wants the fight so bad. Trim down a bit. Doesn't offend me.

Nearly all fighters squeeze down into a lower weight division, how many fighters actually rehydrate to the actual weight limit?

They really need to bring back same day weigh ins to remove this current trend or else it will just stay as it is.

GGG comes in just over 170, the mw lineal champ should be ready to fight at the normal 160 limit imo.

Im not a fan of the catchweights, its beneath Miguel. That said, I don't feel it was a factor here really. Sure Geale seemed fairly drawn at the weigh in but he had the unusually lengthy time of 36 hrs to recover/rehydrate and come fight time he looked and fought like his usual self, he was just in there with a great fighter in Miguel Cotto. Cotto was fantastic last night, his movement was so smooth and deliberate, his defence was on point for sure, he pulled some slick moves in there. He's small compared to these guys but his power is holding up, his aggression hasn't been thwarted and his speed is superior. He's a smart fighter who knows all about positioning and is technically superior to every MW I can think of including GGG

Canelo vs Cotto at 154 or over is the biggest and best fight in boxing now unless Floyd goes insane and entertains fighting Golovkin

Alvarez has looked great lately and so has Miguel, cant wait for it....
                WAR COTTO!!!

I understand that but we're not talking 168-172. This dude came in at 182 ****ing pounds. That's not what most fighters do. That's abusing the system.

Ok. I thought he comes in at least 175.
Anyway. 10 pounds is a fair variance from weigh in and fight night. Anything approaching 15-20 is fowl in my book. I think cotto ultimately fights ggg. Well see
