Comments Thread For: Thurman Beats Guerrero in Fireworks Filled Bout

WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith Thurman (25-0, 21KOs) retained his title with a tough twelve round unanimous decision over Robert 'The Ghost' Guerrero (32-3-1, 18KOs). The scores were 120-107, 118-108 and 118-108.

Thurman came out guns blazing in the opening seconds of the first round, looking for a big shot to take Guerrero out. Guerrero was covering u p well and countering back to get respect. There was more gun slinging in the second. Thurman landing the bigger shot with Guerrero hanging in there with some counters. At the start of the third, it was apparent that Guerrero's lefty eye was swelling up. There seemed to be a clash of heads and huge lump began to develop on the left side of Thurman's forehead.

Won't be FOTY, but it was a good bout.
Guerrero is C-level. Thurman is B-level. Nothing much changed.

              Good fight and good scorecards.

I gave Guerrero 3 rounds I think. I didn't think it was a shut out but it was a clear victory for Thurman who landed more punches and really did more throughout the fight, plus he got the knockdown.

that was a decent fight i guess. i was expecting thurman to KO guerrero late and he almost did, but guerrero has a good chin. guerrero was just way too slow and way too inactive while thurman was too quick and mobile throwing punches from everywhere weird angles. 10-2 thurman.

if i had to grade PBC's first night of boxing i'd give it a C+. The rest of the scheduled PBC fights are pretty mediocre unfortunately, so the future of PBC looks sad.

Wtf? Does Marv Albert need to get his eyes checked. He kept saying Thurman was landing when he was missing.

But yeah, the commentators were riding Thurman dck.
