Why would the WBO strip Algieri, only to let him fight for it against Crawford

I read that Arum is trying to make Terence Crawford fight for the Vacant WBO 140 pound belt against Chris Algieri the man who got stripped of the belt.

Why did the WBO strip Algieri he barely had the belt and they stripped him, they couldn't even let him just fight Pacquiao first to see if he won or lost?

Its strange to strip a guy of the title only to make him fight for it as a vacant title, WBO is lame for this, let the man defend his title.

Other orgs let guys hold their belts for a few years and never strip them, didn't Vitali hold the WBC belt for a year and half without a fight and never got stripped?

It wasn't "the plan" for Algieri to beat Ruslan and fight Manny and he doesn't seem to have much of any fanbase, he probably just doesn't have the leverage other fighters do when it comes to holding a belt hostage

Good point, and it makes you hate boxing politics and sanctioning bodies even more, its foul. Let the man go in there as the champion with the belt at least it would be more meaningful if Crawford wins instead of fighting for a vacant title against the man who got stripped of it for no reason other than having no fanbase.

Also if they didnt want Algieri to beat Ruslan and stripped Algieri, why not let Crawford fight Ruslan for the vacant title?

Whilst what you say is probably true, that sucks. If he earned it he should keep it and defend it.

He shouldn't have the belt at the first place but I hope he beat Crawford for it this time although it is impossible cos Arum will buy the judges.

WBO stripping Algieri in the first place was unfair...
... But WBC stripping Figueroa (within 2 months after his last fight) because he was injured and he allegedly planned to move up, was crazy...

I think they were anticipating Manny would drop down in weight and fight Vargas for it at 140, but now that Manny and Floyd might actually happen the WBO looks like a ridiculously, pathetic, biased "organization"

It really makes absolutely no sense at all.
