Cotto's one of the few fighters out there who's fought everyone... He's earned his stripes therefore he needs to go for the big money fights now and retire.
Cotto's already a HOFer but if he could beat the following he'd not only make some big money but he would enhance his legacy.
Sep 2014 - Canelo
May 2015 - GGG
Sep 2015 - Mayweather, this is potentially the last fight for both fighters, imagine how big this event would be?
I really can't see who else he'd fight at JMW or MW.

Cotto despite looking like a million bucks vs Sergio IS in his final chapter as a fighter, at least I believe so. So he will be looking for big money and legacy fights which rules out dudes like Geale, Sam Soliman, Kid Chocolate, Felix Sturm ect who all have massive size edges over him anyway and despite not being anything special would all have a shot at beating him. The trinkets that people wear and call themselves champions mean little at this point in his career, he is after all THE middleweight champion. Gennady Golvkin might not be THE champion but he was and still is even post Martinez vs Cotto considered THE best fighter in the division, he's also a fighter I can see doing great things in his career and a win over him would do wonders for Miguel's legacy. GGG hasn't been in with anybody like Cotto as a pro and it would be interesting but to tell the truth Golovkin looks too big and too brutal for him and would be the big favourite while not a HUGE PPV type of fight - Swerve that and get back too 154!
There he has the options of fighting Canelo/Lara (preferably Canelo!) or Mayweather a second time, these guys could even step up and fight him for his 160 title, it has to appeal fighting a 154 guy for the 160 championship! Alvarez is big money and should he pip Lara it makes all kinds of sense - MEX/PR rivalry for a start, also to add to that Saul beat Cotto's brother Jose before (though was rocked), the fact Saul is a p4p guy and has a great career ahead of him and they would just gel for a fan friendly tear up!
Mayweather would be even better this time around and the first time was great! A win over Floyd it go's without saying would be huge cash and legacy wise its Humungous! He'd have a better shot this time too fighting like he believes in himself again. Floyd would again be favoured though.
Other than that he could rematch Trout and try and reverse a bad night at the office against a tricky customer, which would be nice on the resume but little else. I hear Tim Bradley being mentioned which I LOVE the sound of, Marcos Maidana could step up and rumble with him or, and perhaps this one is stretching it a touch, Juan Manuel Marquez could meet him at like 152 or something.... If Juan can operate at that weight that would be a classic fight! Theres many more options for him but I expect him to chase the Mayweather fight
