That B-Hop doesn't want to fight Kovalev is something that I understand and I agree upon...
... But the fact that B-Hop keeps coming up with hilarious and false reasons to "explain" why he doesn't want to fight the guy -- these I don't have to take.

There is a cold war going on between HBO and Showtime. However, Stevenson is just as much a danger for the 49 year old Hopkins as KovalevAs much as people here ride Kovalev and Golovkin, remember that they BOTH have something to prove against TOP world class fighters themselves.
It's mighty coincidental that the biggest LHW fight was first Stevenson vs Kovalev, yet Stevenson ends up at Showtime, rendering that fight almost impossible to make. Talk then comes up for BHop vs Kovalev, to which Hopkins has the perfect answer to not need Kovalev, nor will he betray his "loyalty" to Haymon, Schaefer and Showtime. Truth is, neither want Kovalev. I do agree that Stevenson is dangerous for BHop too.

I also agree that Kovalev and GGG have something to prove against top world class fighters. But in order to do that, don't the top fighters have to agree to fight them?

... If he's "loyal to the Emperor", the best way of showing it is to beat the guy who's "loyal to the Czar"... (just a joke)

I did see that fight. It was a good card. The undercards were much better than the main event. I will not be watching Hopkins/Stevenson. I admire Hopkins as an athlete. And he sometimes trains at my gym. But otherwise, I dont really follow either. I'm not supporting Stevenson in any way, shape, or form. And if that fight happens, it isnt going to be competitive anyhow. AND, it isnt two the best going at it. It really is going to be a lop-sided fight. Stevenson is a wrecking ball one punch fighter. Does anyone honestly see Hopkins taking one of his mega crosses?

... You see? It wasn't so difficult to spot the flaw into this situation...

he is right. kovalev hasnt even fought a top 5 light heavyweight yet, he doesnt deserve the chance to fight hopkins. neither did murat and shumenov, so im not saying it cant happen but it sure as hell doesnt need to.

stevenson is the man at 175, hopkins is the number one contender, pascal and dawson are top contenders and kovalev is just a fringe contender. that wont change until he gets out of his kiddy pool and swims with the sharks, runs with the big dogs and leave the puppies alone.

its amusing to me how people act as if its some tragedy that kovalev isnt getting the big fights, the real tragedy is that he is being mentioned for them. that the champion of the world in stevenson and now a legend in hopkins can be accused of ducking a guy who hasnt fought a single guy in the top 5 just because he can punch. matthysse, miranda and lacy really didnt teach you people anything, huh?

Floyd running away to Showtime made all of Golden Boy's fighters duck any "real fight" out there. It's the Showtime way I guess... don't challenge yourself, just come get paid. Money's great but don't expect it to earn you any respect, BHop lost what little he had, this is also AFTER he won his last fight on HBO then goes up to Ward and says I'll never fight you. Nothing but ducking going on at Golden Boy, what a great example set by Floyd.
