Comments Thread For: Garcia, Schaefer Say He Is No. 3 Pound-For-Pound

Richard Schaefer considers Danny Garcia the No. 3 boxer, pound-for-pound, in the world.

Golden Boy Promotions’ chief executive officer is annoyed that others haven’t given Garcia the same type of respect. Schaefer pointed to Garcia’s victories over Lucas Matthysse (34-3, 32 KOs, 1 NC), one of boxing’s biggest punchers, Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KOs), one of the sport’s fastest, most diverse offensive fighters, and experienced ex-champions Zab Judah (42-9, 29 KOs, 2 NC) and Erik Morales (52-9, 36 KOs) as evidence Garcia deserves such recognition.

If Danny is No. 3, and Floyd is obviously No. 1, who is No. 2?

            1 Mayweather
            2 Ward
            3 Bradley
            4 Klitschko
            5 Martinez
            6 Marquez
            7 Pacquiao
            8 Rigondeaux
            9 Alvarez
            10 Froch

Garcia should be in place of Canelo. The rest of the list could be better. But if Schaefer is calling out The Ring for not having someone on their list, why doesn't he call them out for having their 2nd biggest star on there?

            RATINGS POLICY
1.Results. This is the most objective criterion and takes precedence over all others.
2.Performance. How a fighter performs in a victory or defeat can be a factor to determine his place in the ratings.
3.Track record: A fighter’s accomplishments in the recent past can be a factor to determine his place in the ratings. That includes quality of opposition.

Top 10 yes, but #3? No way. The best I could hear the argument for is #5, but even that is too high imo. He belongs somewhere in the bottom half of the list.

He's one of the most elite fighters in the world. That's enough. No need to exaggerate.

Ggg belongs nowhere near the conversation frankly.
