Berto, Broner, Mares, & Lopez were all highly touted by the networks to be best of the best. Hot shots of boxing. Fast hands, kayo power, style, ect....
When has Gonzalez, or Angulo ever been built up like that??
Yes they have kayo power, but they have never been pushed to the forefront as those mentioned.
Now picture Alvarez falling victim to the same thing. Taking a beating, stopped, or totally exposed like the others.

And your so correct that the latter was stopped before, but again, now that they were kayo'd, I never remembered SHO, or HBO making the gatekeepers top billing headliners like the others???

Both Angulo and Gonzales were surrounded by Hype coming up primarily in Mexico due to their punching power. Not to the extent of most fighters you mentioned but both went through the same thing in taking a beating and being "exposed" as you mentioned. In fact both have lost multiple times by ko/tko.

At the end of the day they were at some point in the same boat as the young fighters you mentioned, what I was pouting out is what transformed them into guts and glory fighters if at one point they fell into your category of hot shots with no chin? Simply their age ?
