    Heres why.

In reality each fighter is only giving up what they would make fighting someone else if they don't do this fight.

So assuming this fight happens in Sep. Then Floyd will most likely fight Maidana and Pac will fight Prov or Bradley or someone.

Now Floyd won't make more than his $30mil guarantee for that fight, since it will flop especially after fighting Khan and refusing a charity Pac fight.

Pac will make $20-25mil, maybe less for whoever he fights.

Now after tax thats about $20mil for Floyd and say $15mil for Pac. Thats all they are giving up if they never fight each other.

Now a charity event like this would be huge! People get behind these things. People will buy it just to be seen to be helping, sponsors pay more, tickets sell for more etc etc, because people love to help people in need.

The fighters share could be up to$150mil, this all goes to charity in their names and becomes a tax deduction of $75mil each or however its split, meaning they can save a huge chunk of tax on their next couple of fights, in fact they would probably save more than purse they would have made taking other fights.

So essentially, this can be done without either guy actually missing out on any money. compared to what they would make just fighting other guys, while raising a tonne of cash for charity and giving both guys some great goodwill.
This is surely one of the most humourous posts I've read in a long time. The blithe way in which you casually toss around $15-20 mill into the breezes of fate, is just so funny you should be writing scripts for the latest comedy sensation.... Or else you should have kept it until next December, when we could all have shouted HO HO HO together.

Can you really visualise Phoney Phloyd actually handing over $75 mill to even the most starving of orphans...? Oh Yes...you've forgotten to mention that the PPV and Cable companies as well as the promoters, trainers, cornermen, and TV advertising would also be donating their multi-million dollar amalgamated services FREE..... HO HO HO........ Sorry,...couldn't wait until December.

Can it be possible??? Are you not all aware that MannyP's proposal has nothing to do with charities at all, but strictly to answer Phoney's claim that he wants the fight because he's desperate and hounded by the Tax Bureaus, to show that he's got more than enough money and the tax claims are either false or highly exaggerated....??? Gee whiz, I thought that even BoxingScene posters were smarter than that..

I'd have thought it was obvious.

Its a senseless idea because Pac's broke and deep in debt. Also, there's no way in hell Arum is going to sign onto an event that doesn't make him a huge profit outright. You have charity benefits, telethons to raise money for causes, you don't ineptly dangle a super fight as a charity cause, that's as ****ing ******ed as it comes.

How much do you think Filipino politicians make; if he was a US congressman your point might be valid with how much them crooks make.

If you think Arum isn't going to own Manny's balls for the remainder of his career you might be abusing a very very strong narcotic of some kind. Pac's broke dude, do you understand his salary as a politician will do zero to alleviate the deep hole he, Arum, and Koncz have dug for him? But think of how this looks in the Philippines, all politicians are vulnerable to bad press. The stories surrounding Manny make him look utterly incompetent and potentially corrupt.

Its not looking too good for your guy right now......

I don't think that'll matter. After an event like this especially with a lot of the proceeds most likely going to Philippines. Pac and his family will be held on his countrymen shoulders for all-time. Isn't he already like a national treasure there?

Nobody will fight for charity with a event this big Floyd would be lying his a$$ off if he said that. Manny said it for shock value more than something he would actually do if that was case he would been donating his checks to charities.
