I still don't think its the same thing. This fight isn't going to draw 30-40,000 people because Cotto beat Delvin Rodriguez. It is going to draw that because of the reputation he's built in the sport of boxing by taking on all of the elite fighters of this era and being in several classic wars. A reputation that he's earned.

Khan is a top 5 fighter at 140 but doesn't have the career resume or recent success to justify going straight ahead to Mayweather.

It's not the same thing I'm not saying it is.

But I don't think Cotto's body of work should mean he deserves this fight and is justified to move straight to 160 and fight Martinez when he doesn't have an impressive win at 154 or in general in a long time, I don't think he deserves this fight, to be honest.

From Martinez point of view, it's similar to Mayweather's point of view in the sense that he's not going to get credit for the fight if Cotto just jumps straight to 160 and fights Martinez.

The situations not the same but I don't think it's a good fight and I don't think it's justified.
