Comments Thread For: Stevenson Confident He Will Knock Tavoris Cloud Out

The manner in which Adonis Stevenson snatched the light heavyweight crown from Chad Dawson is befitting of his fighting style as a whole. A single shot was all it took to end their June fight in barely over a minute, much to the delight of the ever-growing fan base of the Haiti-born Canada-based knockout artist.

Next up for Stevenson is the first defense of that very belt, as he faces former titlist Tavoris Cloud on September 28. The bout takes place at the very same venue and hosting network that bore witness to his championship winning effort, with HBO televising live from the Bell Centre in Montreal. Less than four months have elapsed since registering the career-defining win, but Stevenson used the short time spent in the ring to his advangate.

I like his confidence. "the first wide punch that Cloud throws, the fight is over." cloud has a good chin too, it would be interesting. Looking forward to ths one.

Cloud has a very good chin. Wouldn't be shocked if he wins

I agree. Cloud has the right attributes to go rounds and eventually get to Adonis.

It's too bad that Cloud isn't that's active. I still see this as a competitive fight.

Clouds inactivity may be his downfall, but if his time out of the ring hasn't caused him any hindrance, then there's no doubt that he could pull off the win.

Stevenson has been making quick work in the ring, but it'll be interesting to see him pitted against a gritty contender like Cloud who has already been in the ring with two HOF'ers and held his own.

I think Stevenson's KO streak will end, but Cloud's inactivity will still be enough to give him the dub in Canada, eh!

very interesting fight, cloud can be outboxed but he isnt the kind of guy you get rid of too easily. he isnt exactly elusive but he does have a great chin and he is very tough, stevenson isnt a great boxer and the longer the fight goes the more hittable he is. stevenson has proved his chin is fairly good after getting clipped by boone early in his career but cloud can really punch himself and hes the naturally bigger man.

imo how cloud handles stevensons power will be key in who wins the fight. his defense isnt good enough for him to win if he cant take it, but if he can absorb some shots and take adonis a few rounds he has a great chance to score a big KO himself.

really looking forward to this one.

It is an intriguing match-up. Both guys can definitely ****, but can also be outboxed. Cloud is more of the counterpuncher, and probably less aggressive, but may have tougher whiskers. Whereas Cloud is coming off his first career loss (and the Campillo beating) and a long layoff, whereas Adonis is hitting his peak and seems full of confidence.

It could be a real battle, and either way, I'm very much looking forward to it. However, I can't help feeling that it may turn out to be a cautious, reserved kinda fight, with both looking for that KO punch, but unwilling to leave themselves open. I see Stevenson as the more likely to push the action, and probably the faster guy, but equally that may leave him more vulnerable to the counter.

Cloud has proven he's a tough guy with solid power and a good motor. He's not going to fall with the first punch like Dawson did. He hasn't been knocked out before, Stevenson has...

Cloud is actually the one I figured would knock Dawson out eventually.

I'll go with Stevenson... Cloud in my view, his chin hasn't been tested against a power puncher like Stephenson.. or at least in a long long time! Campillo outclassed him after the multiple amount of knockdowns, yet Campillo faught on. Though he has good power (a little over hyped) but punchs are too wide and easy to counter... Stevenson is far from a great boxer but his power makes up for it; as well as his better than average speed!
