I had to laugh at both highlighted..Dude,the KD was clea, nothing bogus about it..I never felt Matt's in control of that fight, yet alone about to take it over(very big overstatment)..Matt's does not deserve a rematch..I know it's tough for a lot of people to hear(cause Matt's is a easy guy to like)but that's the truth..
The KD was clear? A rabbit punch, a pull into the ropes, Lucas gets tangled up and Weeks refuses to step in...
That's clear?
Matthyse absolutely does deserve a re-match, but the narratives have been written and people would rather see inferior fights for some reason. We got a bunch of non-paid business advisers on this site.
Oh, while we're at it - any chance you could take those useless big-ass gifsoups out of your sig? It slows every goddamn thread I am in down.
If there's anybody that learned anything from this fight its Garcia. I think he'll come in more confident now that he knows Matt's flaws, and he'll win more convincingly.
He took his shots with no problem, defended VERY well, and landed the harder punches all night long even knocking Matt down. He was the first to crack that iron chin as well, I won't be surprised if Garcia wins by KO.
Good for Danny bad for Lucas! Danny beat him fairly easily and has a formular that I don't see Lucas breaking. If there was something wrong with Lucas prior to the fight then maybe theres a reason other than Danny for his unimpressive performance.
Far to much is made about rematching right away these days. Its not a requirement by anyone. Lucas has techniqe issues to work on and having a fight that has pressure build into it isn't very smart!
I'd like to see this kid get with Abel Sanchez or someone simular who takes his time and works on specific issues to clear up! He needs top quality sarring and thats impossible in Argentina!! His punches are far to wide and his movement is very poor. Theres things to work on and there all fixable!! Ray

he clinched almost every single time matthysse hit him. that's not legal. weeks should have penalized him at some point. no warnings nothing. so he kept doing it. remember when berto was penalized for holding? he got beat up. what would garcia do if he couldn't hold?
Danny has earned a big fight with his wins over holt, campbell, morales twice, khan, judah, and lucas..... He needs to get a big fight, namely floyd in may 2014
Lucas needs to regroup and work on his skill set,,, Coming straight in and looking for big bombs will only get you so far,,against elite fighters like danny or jmm or floyd- being one-dimensional will get you beat as it did saturday night....
i would rather see danny-floyd and lucas vs a tune-up and then maybe maidana fight in 2014.....
lucas needs to really develop his skill set if he is going to remain at the elite, especially now that his aura of invincibilty has been crushed
but he was winning until his eye closed. it's hard to do a lot when you can't see punches coming or your opponent clearly. garcia only hit him with a couple decent shots through 6. matthysse had the much better defense up until his eye closed. maybe he should develop a new face or start sparring with an eyepatch.
I cant believe people are saying Garcia won easily. Matthysse took full control of the fight in rds 5, 6. Then he got unlucky with the eye. Changed the whole fight. Ya Danny Causdd the swelling but thats a fluke it rght in the eye. **** luck the way it swelled up.
Garcia landed 24% of his shots over the first half of the fight whereas Matthysse had landed 36% of his shots (ended up landing 36% overall). I think Lucas also outlanded him by 22 punches during the first 6 rounds. Garcia definitely made the right adjustments and came through in the clutch by busting up Matthysse's eye and getting the knockdown. I had 4-2 Matthysse through 6 though.
I think it was closer than you make it seem, but as you said to each his own. It does look like the judges and many boxing experts/writers (for what it's worth) had it fairly close.
so did I and matthysse won the 10th and 12th. draw. where was the schooling? if weeks didn't allow the rabbit punch tangle knockdown matthysse wins the last 3. garcia didn't get destroyed so people gave him extra credit. if you actually look at punches landed it was razor close.
