I mean if he fought his mandatory everytime we would be watching Floyd fight Devon Alexander or Paulie or some other fighter that gets the number one ranking we never heard of.
A lot of fighters have promoters and match-makers that hand-pick their opponents. What is unique about Floyd is that he does it himself, he is in charge.
He has a point though, it's a business as well as a sport.

HILARIOUS... I've Said It For Years, Floyd Fans Get Defensive; Floyd Just Came Clean!
Common sense said as much. I saw Roy Jones Jr do the very same thing, IN FACT, Roy had an agreement with HBO, that HE chose his opponents, NOT HBO, NOT promoters, He CHOSE the least amount of risk, for the most amount of money, and a safe trip to the bank... BECAUSE Money was most important factor in his Boxing career. Floyd has been the same way! Floyd fans are in denial as much as an alcoholic denies he has a drinking problem. They BOTH were in the sport, as long as they could stay in it, so to make the most money possible, NOT to be the best fighter in the game, not to be a legend. Hagler, Leonard, Hearns, Duran, Arguello, Chavez Sr, fought the best, IN THEIR PRIME, multiple times if need be, to stack themselves up against the best to see where they fall in line. That's credible. Money was important, but certainly SECONDARY. They weren't afraid to take risk. Floyd is not in that league, neither was Roy. HENCE... Floyd waited until Mosley was 40, Floyd waited until he felt Cotto had too many wars. Floyd ignored Pacquiao in his prime EVEN AFTER Manny agreed to all terms, because Pac was found too dangerous... and still to this day, feels Manny is two dangerous. FLOYD WOULDN'T even fight Marcos Maidana after Marcos destroyed Ortiz. Floyd chooses Ortiz anyway, not the Winner, Maidana. Sergio Martinez called Floyd out forever, and heard crickets. Leonard came out of a 5 year retirement, NO tune up fight, to challenge Hagler. Floyd wouldn't even fight Sergio. NOW you know who Floyd Mayweather is, and HE ADMITTED as much... it's always been about the money. Don't get hurt, don't take a chance of enduring punishment... be controversial, be outspoken, be all about the BLING, and trick Boxing fans into paying for that... EVEN dislike Floyd, so you pay for each fight in hopes of seeing a hand picked opponent beat him... and you kept paying. FLOYD even said himself the other day, HE created his demeanor/personality, to sell tickets, sell PPV. His motivation was NEVER to be the best, stacked up alongside legends of the sport. That's weak. But good for him, he has a lot of money. But don't be putting in the same conversation as with those legends mentioned above. You're delusional if you think Floyd would have crawled in the ring with those legends... no way. He fooled the public. And Roy Jones one day picked the wrong hand picked fighter, named Antonio Tarver, and it all backfired on him.... twice. He was never the same. Floyd is about to experience the same thing... he's gonna get knocked out... but at least you paid for him all these years. It all makes sense.Last edited by TLC8; 09-11-2013, 12:24 AM.

I doubt he will fight Matthysse if Floyd & Matthysse win on Saturday. I'm still expecting Floyd to fight the winner of Khan/Alexander in May. Floyd knows Matthysse is an extremely dangerous fighter. He's probably hoping Garcia wins since it's a much easier style match up for him.
