He also made Matthysse a bit startled in the second round with the straight left. He gassed a lot towards the end though.
Matthysse had an excellent round in round 7 and landed some huge tough punches throughout the fight, it was no way a dominant win for either fighter and any objective fighter could see this.
Matthysse's fans need to calm down. He wasn't ''robbed'' in this fight or against Zab, I actually think Devon did better than Zab, but of course Matthysse groupies have so much estrogen coursing though their veins that objectivity gets thrown straight out of the window when it comes to him.
The fight with Garcia is 50/50.
Not to mention ur disdain for Matthysse's fans isn't doing a great job of showing objectivity. And neither is that last sentence... How can u conclude Matthysse/Garcia is a 50-50 fight by watching Matthysse/Alexander?? Alexander = Garcia??

Anyone who says it wasnt close probably didnt watch it. Hell, every round but a couple were very close. Imo Devon won rounds 1-3, 5, 6, and 9. And 10 was close, Devon arguably landed the better punches in that round.
Dig up the compubox thread for that, a lot of people sure thought it was close. It certainly puts the robbery myth into perspective.
Regardless it was a closr fight and wasnt a robbery. Hell, Lucas onlu clearly won 3 rounds.

I love it when the emotional fans tout "I saw it this way, and any objective fan will agree with me" as if anybody who saw the fight the first time around had any reason to be subjective for Matthysse in that fight, and yet it was still widely seen as a robbery way back then

So Danny winning a close fight means nothing becuz he was young fighting a veteran, but Matthysse losing a close fight against one of the most difficult opponents out there, in his hometown, in only his second fight on the big stage has some significance?

Actually Devon needed to win 7 rounds to win, 6 to get a draw... Its borderline disgraceful that u give Devon 6 rounds for a draw, but if managed to give him 7 for a win? Kill urself

Lol, dude ur a joke... I was hasty on the math, I'll admit it, but a 10 round fight I clearly didn't watch? Read my posts
Maybe you did watch it, but you clearly don't remember it that well if you're arguing Devon needed 7 rounds to win the fight. And I didn't tell you to "kill yourself" like you claimed anyone who saw Devon winning 7 rounds needed to do (I will point out again that was directed at anyone who thought Devon won the fight because at the time you didn't realize it was a 10 round fight). So don't come at me with your BS because you couldn't do the simple math right.
I agree it was a close fight, and I will even admit there are arguments for Matthysse winning. However, neither guy "should" have won because it was a close fight that either guy could have walked away with.Last edited by turkas; 08-11-2013, 02:28 AM.
