People are saying asking why that matters.
Martinez will vastly outweigh Mayweather. So? It won't be the first time and it probably won't be the last.
If Martinez can make 154 then let's make the fight happen.

Before he fought Dzinziruk, he said he would do whatever he had to do to fight Mayweather/Cotto. I don't think his mind-frame has changed much since then, cuz he's still hungry for that respect and them big paychecks lol

It'd been 8 years since chad last fought at 168, and almost 4 since sergio last fought at jr middle. maybe he's just a different animal. i don't think its a smart move though. i could see anyone those guys doing to him what ward did to dawson.

Originally posted by kiaba360 View PostIMHO, Canelo/Cotto do not pose the same threat to Martinez that Ward posed to Dawson. I think much more of Ward than I do of Canelo, and I think Ward is a tougher out than Cotto too (at their current stage). Sergio has been waiting to get in this position for a long time, and I doubt he'll just let it go to waste. He's at the end of his career, the perfect time to take risks. He has a lot of options right now, and if he can safely make 154, even better for him. The two obvious options are Chavez and Canelo. Take Alvarez out the picture, and he gets that much closer to his wish of fighting Mayweather.

That's why I would much prefer Floyd just take the fight at 160 so noone has excuses when he wins.
