He never got stick for putting his titles on the line, he's getting stick for the amateurish performance and fouling while trying to land a fight with one of the biggest guys in boxing.

I dont remember seeing Khan get any stick for putting his titles on the line across the border.

Maybe you can link to the thread where this is happening?

NOONE has given Khan stick for putting his titles on the line, but you seem to be forgetting that Khan paid no respect for Peterson and thought he was going to walk right through him so in reality, Khan didn't even think he was taking any risks.

Instead he ended up getting exposed slightly, looking amateurish and losing due to lack of answer to Petersons pressure outside of fouling.

Props to the guy for putting up his belts out of town sure, but lets not pretend he was taking this for anything more than a walk in the park, as opposed to a "big risk".

Fickle fans really. We khan got KO'D by Prescott he was given no chance of ever winning a world title. When Kirkland got ko he was supposedly hype chinny etc. When both these guys startEd to win people jumped on the bandwagon again. Now khans lost the hate is out in force.

Unfortunately, that's fight fans for you when someone's winning it's sliced bread when there losing, then jheez god help them

I'm not a fan of Khan but I respect the guy. take's some balls to fight in someone's backyard when you are the champion.
          Props to him.

as someone else already said, boxing fans are the worst.. so pay no attention.

You guys are really getting a little but excited about this alleged fouling. That ref was seriously on Khan's case from the start, his eyes were locked on him constantly. A couple of pushes is hardly justification to deduct two points. Tyson only got two points deducted for biting a third of Holyfield's ear off! With another ref this 'fouling' would not even have been an issue post fight and the actual fight would have flowed alot better.

Good topic and I agree with the TS. Boxing fans are a big part of the sport being like it is today. One or two losses and fans say a fighter is garbage, exposed, sucks, etc. Fighters, Mayweather for instance, are obsessed with being undefeated being fans make it out to be the most important thing.
Props to Khan for going to D.C.

Take the fanboy glasses off (I dont even care if you're a fanboy or not) cause you're obviously watching a different fight.

                A "couple pushes" you say?

When does "a couple", stop being "a couple"? Probably when it happens almost constantly?

And then there's the biggest push of the fight that gifted Khan a 10-8 round:

The fighters many times are also to blame, especially when they are so ****y.

You cant be calling out Mayweather and get ****** around, looking bad like he did without taking some stick.

                Its inevitable.

Fighters make big promises and talk crap they don't even believe just to get that pay day.

Its not the fans fault. Boxing is fu**ed from inside. Promoters.......wth is a promoter doing crying about the ref during the post presser?

It needs to be a proper sport in term of rules and regulations, as well as where sportsmanship is concerned, in and out of the ring, before people who look up to the fighters can follow.

Shouldn't he be getting praise for actually having the balls to fight in a live dangerous opponents backyard instead of getting killed for it?

The hypocrisy of us boxing fans is mind bogglingly funny. We cane people like Mayweather for being cautious throughout there boxing careers and avoiding many potentially dangerous situations and making very few risky moves in there career, yet when one actually goes old school like all the champs from the great era used to, he gets slated it for it lmao! Yes it was the wrong choice in hindsight but at least the man had he balls to take that risk, tell me who else would do what Khan did in his situation? Not many i can assure you of that.
He DOES get credit from anyone that's aware of it. That's why I've said this over and over: be objective. Look at things from all perspectives.

I was rooting for Peterson and am happy for him winning the belts and a big upset. However, I'm fully aware that the ref's point deductions played a major role in the fight. I scored the fight 113-112 for Khan, point deductions and all. On top of that, it's extremely hypocritical to slam Khan for labeling him a "hypejob", "bum" or any other negative term that people love handing out like cheap candy when a boxer loses (even if it's a razor thin decision). Most of the time people look at the result, and not the circumstances behind the loss or how the fight went. Khan is still a good fighter and most people will tell you that they had Khan winning even with the point deductions, regardless of who they were rooting for.

I'll be quick to admit that I don't like Khan's twittering, big-mouthed, ****y personality, but as a fighter he's been fighting big names/solid contenders in the past two years straight. Kotelnik, Malignaggi, Maidana, McCloskey, tried to get THE fight with Bradley by offering him a 50-50 split, Judah, and now Peterson (in HIS hometown)...very ballsy. He deserves some slack. He was attempting to clean out 140 (or at least most of it), and at the very least he deserves some applause for that because most fighters nowadays stick mainly to the business-side. I'm not saying that's wrong, but when you have fighters that are absolutely willing to fight the best...that counts for something; win, lose, or draw.

Good post, Khan losing in Petersons backyard isnt any more unusual than Floyd definately losing to Castillo in Mexico even without having points deducted.
ANd now all of a sudden Khan isnt qualified to fight Floyd, on the basis of one fight, even though Khan trouced Zab more thouroughly than Floyd could ever, or would ever do.

Good point. People have no problem still wanting Pac/Mayweather, even though Marquez just got robbed against Pac a second time, either. Does that make Marquez more qualified for a Floyd fight than Pac?
