      WBA #2 heavyweight Luis Ortiz blows away journeyman in Greensboro, NC

      Undefeated WBA #2 rated heavyweight Luis Ortiz (20-0, 17 KOs, age 34) scored another spectacular knockout when he sent Joseph Rabotte (11-26-1, 3 KOs) through the ropes with a crisp three-punch combination toward the end of the second round last Saturday in Greensboro, North Carolina.

      Although Ortiz has not been able to get any of the top ten heavyweights in the ring with him as a pro, he and his team believe his #2 ranking in the WBA coupled with his southpaw stance and the fact that he was considered one of the best heavyweight prospects when he was an amateur should get die-hard boxing fans excited about him and lead to opportunities to prove himself against the best. Rabotte, on the other hand, suffered his tenth consecutive loss.

            Dan Rafael says Main Events would like to make Jennings vs. Adamek later this year.



            If heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek beats Dominick Guinn on Aug. 3, promoter Main Events would like to match him with the up-and-coming Bryant Jennings in a very interesting, and surely crowd-pleasing fight.

            Main Events has talked to HBO about the bout but so far the network has been non-committal to the fight. For my money, that's a really good fight that could show us if Jennings is a contender or a pretender.
