How much money will Donaire lose fighting in NY?

Isnt he getting taxed more for his income? anyone know the deal?

Not sure but if he puts on a show, which I'm sure he will, it will only help him make more $ in the future. NYC has a big Filipino population and Hispanic fans flock to see fights here. Great chance to build his brand in the mecca of boxing.

it's basically like a tune up fight for him after a bit of a layoff no big deal.

"A foreigner can't fight in New York if he gets a big purse because of the tax situation. You don't get a credit for your state taxes. Manny will keep out of New York, as would [Floyd] Mayweather because Mayweather comes from Nevada. [Donaire] doesn't have the situation because he's from California and California has a big state tax and he gets a credit for his New York tax. But if Nonito lived in Nevada, he would have the same problem."
