Arum doesn't put Donaire on Pacquiao undercards because he likes to milk all the PPV buys he can.
Why have Donaire on a Pac card when most Filipinos will already buy the PPV regardless of whose fighting on the undercards.
Top Rank would make a lot more buys if they put Pac on Donaire on different dates.
well I like Nonito, and I am sure a lot of pac fans like him too, and they will watch and support him, this fight with Montiel is another step to make himw grow further ...
donaire is to philippines as dela hoya is to mexico
I don't know the backgrounds of each either, but Hoya has accent and Donaire doesn't. Difference may be that the latter made it in the US at a young age.
Jones - Soto-Karass rematch under the Pac-Mosley card is fine by me. I hope Arum makes more relevant undercard matches. Donaire can do well on his own, IMHO. He doesn't need to hog the limelight on that PPV to make a point. Who knows, maybe he and Montiel will end up doing a trilogy of bouts, with Mares or Darchinyan waiting in the wings?

I believe he will grow in popularity if he beats montiel, but I am quite certain he won't be as well loved as Pacquiao in the Philippines.
There are many stories reaching the ears of his countrymen about his beef with his own father, and the Filipinos think they are ugly stories... read this one.
Well Donaire is Pinoy's best thing after Manny retires, I think he's going to be huge - He does seem so Americanized but, can someone give me a brief intro to his upbringing etc? He hardly has an accent and if I hadn't knew better I would've thought he was born and raised in America.
He grew up in the same hood as Manny's. In fact, Nonito's mother was Pacquiao's elementary school teacher back in the days. The Donaire family migrated here in the US when Nonito was about 10 years old. Nonito never forgot how to speak Tagalog, nor the dialect which they usually use to communicate back in General Santos City...

I do agree bro that Nonito will be more popular than he is now and wont be as well loved as Pacquiao but for other reasons besides that ugly story....
IMHO its not fair to put pressure to anyone (fighter or any other Filipino sportman) to reach the level of popularity and admiration Pac has achieved in the Philippines, we will be lucky if someone will achieved that again in our lifetime ....
