And to say that the ref had control is one hell of a misnomer to say the least.

Edit: NC could arguably have been an option, but I see a much stronger case for DQ. The very instant that Roger entered the ring should've been the end of the fight imo (based on the rules).
One thing I have learned over the years watching boxing is that the ref pretty much always has discretion as he is the one who makes the final ruling. The board is there for appeals but not too many rulings get overtuned. I think that most refs handle situations on a case by case basis.

I can honestly see a case for that as well, or a NC. But the way I see it, the strongest case is for Mayweather to have been DQ'd. Why? Because Roger entered the ring first, which provoked Yoel to enter, as most likely any trainer-father would do in such a circumstance. Based on a strict interpretation of the rules, it seems that upon Roger entering the ring the fight is over. Anything beyond that is basically secondary. You could also argue that Roger provoked the subsequent "riot" which ensued as well through his initial actions.

Of course, Zab's "posse" were evidently everybit as much ****bags as Roger Mayweather.

If they would have stopped that fight there would have been a Bowe vs Gołota-ish riot.
