    Why did Vargas think he was more Mexican

    Why did Vargas claim he was more Mexican than De La Hoya? I never understood this...

    It's like Floyd saying he's more American than Shane. I must admit I enjoyed every second of Oscar outboxing and beating the living hell out of Vargas when Vargas's roids burnt out.

      Mexican fighters have a tough guy rep.
      They're often known as ring warriors.
      Vargas felt DLH didn't live up to that.
      He viewed DLH as a prima donna.

        Wow, So he looked at Oscar as a softy yet he took steroids so he could beat Oscar, yet he got his ass handed to him?

          he said Oscar picked on smaller fighters and that he didn't fight like a proud mexican fighter (before they fought). But as we saw, Oscar quit on his stool against pacquiao so maybe he was right a little bit.
          and i know a lot of mexicans who dont like de la hoya because he doesn't fight for pride, but for money. Mexican greats like Sanchez, Barrera, Morrales, Chavez, and even Marquez now fight for pride and legacy. Oscar always fought for money since after his trinidad fight.

            because Vargas acted like a tough ignorant prick and had head****s he thought he was more Mexican.. I guess he mustve thought every Mex has to fit the cholo stereotype.

              I think it was the jealousy that blinded the Mexicans, Oscar was the most complete fighter in his prime, speed, power and intelligence. The beating he gave Chavez was what made them bitter, but hey it was his job, why lay down for Chavez?

                I agree with this response Abbadon, im glad we agree on something here. Vargas was a poser that was exposed, he made himself look bad by taunting Oscar, taking steroids for the fight and still not being able to beat Oscar even with his extra help.
