Boxing requires very little sporting talent

Jake Paul proves boxing is one of the least talented sports
I don't care where Chavez is right now, there's no other sport where a youtuber could start in their 20s and beat former champions in that sport.

Look at the likes of Wilder or AJ. Never laced up a pair of gloves until they were adults and become world champions. You just can't do that in other sports, no chance.

It's simply down to needing less talent to succeed in boxing.

I don't wanna hear boxers are great sportsmen again. Brave? Absolutely. But it's a sport that people can start very late and still beat champions because the standard of sporting ability is so low.

Put it into perspective...do you think you could never dribble a basketball until the age of 21 and then within a few years be able to compete in a game with even the most mediocre retired NBA player? there's no way.

Paul, a guy who never boxed until his 20s just did as well against Chavez as prime Canelo did against a badly weight drained stoner Chavez lollll. Boxing is a joke.

No. The reason Paul gets to look good against a guy with Chavez' record is money.

He gets the opponent of his choosing, when he wants them.

We can't get too carried away referring to this as sport. It's strictly business.

Im not just referring to this fight. Tell me another sport where you can literally never play it until you're an adult and get to the very top like some world champions.

Skill is a big thing in boxing but so is toughness, grit, chin and punching power all of which are innate qualities.

Say what you want about Jake but he trains hard, has a chin, has some pop and has grit in him, that's more than you can say for a lot of pros.

People really underestimate the intangibles when picking fights. They also underestimate momentum ALL THE TIME.

        Boxing isn't top trumps.

Chavez Jr was never world class he was just guided and was in the right place at the right time to beat a much naturally smaller, terrible world champion with thanks to his fathers name and team. Its been around 15 years since then and a huge decline ever since.
He is now 40 and has basically been a lazy junkie for over a decade and terribly inactive.

I think in many sports with the right circumstances people could train for going on 6-7yrs and beat a heavily faded former champion.

Chavez is not the best representative, in fact possibly the worst.

If Paul fought a former world champion that lived a good life and wasn't totally compromised by injuries he'd get his head taken off.

Jr is washed up and past his prime, but came back for money. You dont think Jake Paul could beat Bob Cousy in a game of basketball right now if Cousy decided to come back and play? Of course he could, which invalidates the point made by the OP

Jamie Vardy didn't turn pro until 23, Drogba - 22, Ian Wright was playing sunday league football until well into his twenties.
Many didn't start until late teens/early twenties.

Hes rich and famous which allows him to bypass the path regular fighters need to take, and cherry pick and stack the deck in his favour.

There's more intangibles in boxing and other combat sports compared to other sports like Basketball and Baseball.
