I don't disagree about the prizefighting part, cortdawg. In fact, boxers and football players probably deserve the biggest paydays because of all the physical abuse they have to endure. It's great to see elite boxers make big time money.

In a perfect world, boxers would get paid exactly what they deserve, based on what they did in the ring. But, of course, that's just fantasy.

I admit that what bugs me about Mayweather is him putting actual fighting on the back burner and bringing money to the forefront so much. It's like he knows he's blessed with crazy talent so that's enough in his mind for automatic record-breaking paydays. It's a tough business, but he has to earn those paydays. It's like a band becoming huge and then charging their fans $50 a concert and when the band shows up they play three songs and bounce! Or like the finest stripper in the club doing the worst lap dances.

I guess I just want to see Floyd fight Shane, Cotto and Pac. It's better than having to listen to WHAT IF debates 5 years from now.

Floyd is a ****ing fraud and I'll tell you why. Why couldn't he answer the question of why couldn't he make weight? And why didn't he wanna let people know his actual weight on fight night? Why this fight? Why? Why? Why? No answer by his ***** ass. **** Floyd.

Floyd needs to avoid pressure fighters. His 'shell' defense only works against punches thrown one or two at a time. I think the Hatton fight with Floyd could have come out completely different had Joe Cortez not been the Ref, and allowed Ricky to clinch at punch just a bit more. Cortez moved in for the break every time Ricky stormed Floyd prior to the hold even. He wouldn't let them fight inside =( In order for a fighter to beat Floyd, the need to pressure him, which I think Mosley can do, and also have speed, which Mosley has. Berto has grips of speed, and is my favorite fighter, but I don't think he'd pressure Floyd enough. Also, Berto's defense in too penetrable. I think the pressure that Mosely will put on him will be too great. I think he's fought some good guys, but not any greats. Mosley will expose his weak defense and hopefully he'll come back an even better fighter, and a true contender in a couple years.

I know, I got off on a tangent. And yes, Floyd is ducking Shane. But he's smart to do so. The money isn't there in a PPV vs. Shane, and yet Shane is prob one of Floyd's bigger threats. I predict Pacquiao to actually have the greatest success against Floyd. Even though he's short. He fights at a distance an lunges in at speed and throws lightning fast puches in a very unorthodox manner. I think even Floyd will be confused by it. But Manny can be reckless coming in, and could very likely get caught by Floyd.

We'll see. I love boxing, just hate that the fights everyone wants are way far off. BTW, looking forward to Williams/Pavlik. Finally Williams will fight a guy close to his size. And that actually has some power. Should be interesting.
