Ivan Calderon "I just run because i dont want to get hit"

What are you opinions on this quote? He admitted he runs in the ring.

While his English is pretty solid, I think a lot of what he said got lost in translation. I don't know him, but if I had to assume, I think he means move. And that he does it to avoid getting smacked around by bigger guys that he has to chase by going up in weight.

It's ok, because he is a pure boxer. He has no chance on winning if he didn't do that, and he is so good that he is able to do it, hit and don't get hit.

Willie Pep once said, "He who hits and runs away lives to fight another day."

There is nothing wrong with running so long as you don't attempt to portray yourself as a badass and sell fights on the idea that you are going to go to war.

Calderon is what he is, everyone knows what he is, and he doesn't claim to be anything other than that.

Compare that to a guy like Floyd who claims every fight is going to be a war, then runs like the cops are chasing him.

If you are going to be a badass, you have to want to fight like Tyson or Mayorga.

You can't be the badguy and run, it doesn't work like that.

Calderon doesn't try and be the bad guy, that's why people like him, and nobody cares if he runs.

Calderun ran in his entire fight and still needed a gift to escape with a draw.

You complain about 'runners', yet two of your featured fighters have two things in common. (Mayweather and Dirrell.) They're black, and they've been labeled runners in the past.

                    Interesting concept.
