funny you should say that to, because a CW named Chris Byrd beat Vitali. On top of that Michael Spinks would have wooped Byrd.

Michael Spinks' average fight weight: 173 lbs (ranging from 165 to 212)
Chris Byrd's average fight weight: 213 lbs
In other words: Byrd is 40lbs HEAVIER than Spinks. Spinks HEAVIEST weight is lighter than Byrd's MEDIAN weight.
Average weight of their KO victims:
Byrd KOed a median opponent of 230lbs.
Spinks KOed a median opponent of 174lbs.
In other words: Byrd KOed opponents 56lbs HEAVIER than Spinks. In fact Byrd's LIGHTEST opponent he ever KOed is heavier than Spink's MEDIAN KO opponent.
Wins in world heavyweight titles:
Byrd: 5
Spinks: 3
KOwins against 200+ lbs opponents:
Spinks: 2 (TWO!)
Byrd: 19
Spinks won only against 3 (THREE!) opponents at heavyweight: Against Cooney, against 36-year-old Larry Holmes (UD15, SD15) and against nobody Tangstad.
A win over Byrd is worth WAY MORE than over Spinks. Probably a win over Byrd is worth 10 times more due to the better performance+ accomplishments+ record of Byrd. Don't even compare Byrd to Spinks. Spinks is 2 leagues lower than Byrd.

I love Tyson, but it would be hard to see him beating Vitali. We've still never really seen Vitali in serious trouble or behind on the cards. It would be a tough fight. Tyson with Rooney may have been able to plan enough inside body work to slow Vitali down and punish him. But, honestly, probably not. Vitali probably wins.
And skimming over the posts...
Byrd did not beat Vitali, he just happened to be in the same ring with him when he tore his rotator. Byrd lost almost every single round of the fight.
A prime DLH of COURSE beats a prime Mayweather. I mean, look what a well-past-it DLH was able to do against him. Made it razor close. For those who just started watching DLH in recent years, go back and watch his fights pre-Mosely. The difference in his pop and speed in his prime vs. say after the Mosely rematch is remarkable. Mayweather would be in real trouble. Mayweather does not want to fight anyone bigger and stronger than himself, that was the exception because DLH was past-it, and DLH still nearly won. Margarito, Williams, etc and Mayweather runs for the hills. Little guys trying to move up to welter tho? Oh, Floyd's all over that. LOL

im a self-proclaimed "biggest tyson fan" but we have to look at reality here...i dont care who you are, if you are 5'10 it is an AWFUL lot to ask of you to defeat a man that stands 6'7. the height and reach disadvantages would be ridiculous. I could possibly see a case for Mike winning by close UD or SD if he trained to move for 12 rounds but i feel like once Mike saw he couldnt knock vitali out his moral resolve would begin to crumble and vitali would eventually stop him late. Even mike admitted after the lewis fight(yeah, he was past his prime but so was lewis) that lewis was simply too big for him.

Vitali is taller than Wlad, Tyson is smaller than Oscar de la Hoya.
Tyson would be Vitalis Klitschko's SMALLEST opponent. While Vitali would be Tyson's TALLEST opponent.

Oh, you mean Michael Spinks (6'3'')? Spinks was a freaking Super Middleweight (fighting as low as 165lbs). His average fighting weight was 173lbs (= sub-cruiser).
THIS GUY YOU COMPARE TO the Klitschkos?Last edited by Boxingwizard; 06-16-2009, 07:58 PM.
