its a ridiculous article really. the headline reads

"Has Pacquiao avoided fighting African American?"

Then the whole article is about Pacquiao not fighting Joan Guzman who is not african american but the writer tries to wiggle out of it by saying he has a african american style. The other fighter in contention; Zaheer freaking Raheem.

So Manny Pacquiao is scared to fight "African Americans" because he didnt fight Zaheer Rahim & Joan Guzman who is not african american.....but has a african american style.

    U gotta kidding me brah.

Yea Guzman ****ed Nate over real bad, that is why I want to see his ass earn his way back into the mix, he should not just be given a shot.

I think this lead to Nate filing for bankruptcy.

I get what teh writer is trying to point out.

But why say "African American" instead of "fast, slick boxers"?

Which ones? Frazier, Louis, Tyson, Foster, Moore, etc. all fought wildly different styles than guys like Jones or PBF...hell, Hearns and Leonard and Hagler all had wildly different styles from each other as well. This isn't a black thing; it's about not fighting cuties willing to stink the joint out. We don't know if he can beat that style...

but who would want to find out if someone could make Pac boring?

Ray Robinson never got put in with Holman Williams or Charley Burley through similar thinking. He was busy putting butts in the seats in thrilling fights.

There's something to be said for the old days when stink styles got a pat on the head and locked out of the money.

It was good until that last sentence. I could say I liked when ****ty writers got locked out of the money because of a lack of outlets, ahhh the days before the internet~.

The premise isn't all wrong and BMA is right that a win over Floyd advances Manny a lot (IF he can get it...big IF still). However, it advances him because of what Floyd has accomplished and the stature of the foe. Proving you can beat unmarketable cuties is nice, but it won't hurt Manny at all if those cuties were Raheem and Guzman. It will hurt if the May fight doesn't happen because folks will remember not seeing the biggest fight of alltimethisweekanyways.

Really? You think boring guys getting what amounts to TV subsidies because they can't sell ticket one (or pop ratings) is good for the game?

i hope nate got some money from his sorry ass.
No, Nate received nothing. But once his bankruptcy is discharged by the court (hopefully within 60 days), we can proceed with the legal action against Guzman and Sycuan.
