85-90% of MMA fighters come from a Grappling background.

please stop using this fallacy. It makes you look ******ed.

As for Boxing being a flaw to MMA, this is true. It would be great to have better Boxing coaches to help supplement fighters. Right now however, excluding Roach and Davis Jr. there seems to be a lot of McDojoism when good teachers are needed.

I don't know about training MMA for 4 months, but he did say he was interested in making the transition to MMA in December 2007:

But that was a long time ago, I don't know if he's still interested or not. But I do know he said this:

"I apologize to the UFC, sometimes we say things that we shouldn't have said and I'm man enough to admit that. I apologize to the Fertittas, Lorenzo and Dana White. I respect MMA fighters and what they do in the UFC. I have no plans of fighting in mixed martial arts."
And he said this before he said he was interested in fighting in MMA.

He was just saying that to get promoters to up his pay cut. Closest he ever got to MMA was a luncheon with Monty Cox. The wrong guy to talk to about "making your splash".

This is not because there aren't good boxing coaches, because there are. Many top MMA fighters train with the high level boxers, but it's not as simple as "let me go get a good boxing coach, and he'll show me how to box". The problem is that boxing is just ONE aspect of fighting. Boxing in MMA requires you to make adjustments, as traditional boxing doesn't work. You have to defend leg kicks, people shooting in on you, and just a more 3 dimensional attack. Most boxing coaches just don't understand this part of the game, so what you have left is a lot of boxing coaches who understand wrestling, BJJ, and MT, just to name a few. That way they can properly prepare their fighter for what he could potentially be up against. Freddie Roach, Rob Garcia, and a few others have been trying to learn as much as possible about these things so that they can train MMA fighters with their boxing knowledge.

With all that said, if Rahman thinks that beating Kimbo, who is hardly what I call an MMA fighter, as he's a joke within the MMA community, and has even been let go by his trainers, is a credible win, then he's in for a rude awakening. Beating up Kimbo doesn't mean you can go fight Fedor, Randy, Mir, Nog, or Brock. All those guys would really hurt Hasim BADLY. I hope he takes this serious or he's in for a very rude awakening.

That's pretty much what I thought when I first heard that announcement but it would be interesting to see real top boxers in MMA while also learning grappling in the process.

He will get taken down and TKO'ed or Submitted under a minute.

Stick to boxing, he can make more money in boxing than in MMA.
Really after his last performance against Wlad who is knocking down his door to fight him?....Lefty at this point he has name recognition and a fight with him against Kimbp Slice would be huge for MMA. Kimbop is basically a boxer in MMA any way so too see them two square off would be fun for as long as it lasts....Lefty

If Kimbo decides to box with Rahman then the Rock will KO Kimbo easily. Kimbo will most likely try to take Rahman down...he's not going to trade punches with Rahman. He'll fight Rahman the way he fought Ray Mercer.

If any Boxers are really serious about crossing over, I think they really need to develop a training regimen that combines their current techniques with a back to roots, oldschool technique system that involves grappling in order to help develop reflex as well as all the muscles one doesn't normally uses.

the hand ability is there. It's pretty much just needs to be augmented by clinch and ground technique.

He's no longer with Legends. He's training with his nuthuggers.

                      He'd fail against Rahman.

I'm not even sure Scott Coker would sign the fight based on all the wasted money it would involve.
