I heard that Louis people paid off the ref to stop the fight. Carnera had been playing possum and was getting Louis to tire himself out. He likely would have stopped Louis in the 15th round had the fight continued.

People can say what they like about Primo or Max being polcitical themselves, it really doesn't matter, they were definitely used as poster children for their dictatorships.

Okay, enough of that, let's get to the era in question:
The sanctioning body for Europe at the time was the IBU. Everyone in history section knows the IBU got bodied by ****s and turned into the APPE then back into the IBU then into the EBU under the NYSAC/WBC. But, consider what happened prior.
The way IBU ranking would work was by a voting board. The way voting boards were established was by having representative in each IBU nation representing that nation's interest in the IBU. As the nations who join the IBU become more and more at odd politically speaking their voting become more and more bias. It is not by chance Germany never had a great HW prior or after **** reign or after nor is it by chance Italy is in the same boat with their own form of nationalism and dictatorship and single champion only during that era. The *******s by numbers took control of the voting majority of the IBU's ranking board and started giving their boys favoritism.
That's not even hidden or anything. That's what we know, not conjecture or assumption. We know there were no great HWs before ******* control, we know they formed a political block to force IBU ranking, and we know they favored their own.
That said, on an even playing field I'm not sold Primo would have ever been champion.
However, he was, and he was used politically for home nationalism.
I'm not sure, given the American economy, why America would take chances. I'm sure Louis got as favored by American forces as they possible could, however, that is conjecture, guessing.
Bribe for bride, fix for fix, there's no way Germany or Italy could keep up.
reel for reel and propaganda for propaganda there's just no way.
Germany even had better stuff then us at the time, but, their production was slow compared to the US.
Russia was broke and couldn't play.
The UK was suffering material shortages and had better things to do then play propaganda boxing.
I'm not sure any of the era was, ya know, not fixed. It seems too big, like too many powerful national forces have their fingers on too many buttons.
That said, Have you seen Primo box? Have you seen JL? It's kinda hard to believe Primo could beat Joe. Primo got taken to task by Godfrey. He wins but the fight is fixed, Godfrey proved without cuffs he'd've stomped Primo. I know triangle, but it's hard for me to see a fella who got taken to school by Godfrey as a Louis stopper.Comment

He got floored three times in the 6th round before the ref stopped it; how the heck is that playing opossum? Louis was cracking and outlanding him clearly for most of the fight.
Following the last KD the ref was gonna let the fight go on, but Carnera was just standing there with his hands down, about ready to get decapitated. You cant claim getting floored multiple times in a minute is part of the plan.
If you really wanted to posit a conspiracy for this fight at least claim Carnera took a dive...thats how bad he showed in the end.Comment
