Can anyone help me ID this fighter? (American Super Middle from the 2000s)

    Hey,

I have been looking through some stuff on BoxRec, I like to reminisce, looking at records from the past and remembering when these guys were hyped up and rising stars, etc. Now, there is a particular Super Middle I am trying to find but I can't remember his name. I will give a bit of info that I (think) I remember, and hopefully someone will know who I'm talking about. I will give a list of things I remember:
    • fought in the early/mid 2000s
    • talked of as a future champ during the time of Calzaghe and Kessler
    • he was American or at least based in America, may have been of other origins
    • he had a German/***ish sounding surname, first name may or may not have been Joe
    • about 6ft to 6'3, white or possibly Hispanic
    • may have held those USBA/NABO type titles
    • possibly from Jersey or New York area
    • may have moved to Light Heavy in his later career

Any ideas? I am honestly not sure if I'm getting mixed up with more than one fighter here. But there was definately a Super Middle from that period who fits the description (somewhat).

Who did the guy fight? Thats the way to go about it, you then look at his opponents resume

Dunno if this is the guy but while on my search I found this fella.

Joe Spina, stood out to me because he's one of the few boxers to have fought, what appears to be, his brother for a title.

Edit: Nevermind, Spina - Pina, whatever aha, misread.

Matches a few of your loose criteria

He had a name like... "Joe Shoemaker" or something like that haha, but in one of those weird spellings like "Schoenmacher" or something. His first name probably wasn't even Joe. Funny thing is I can't remember how far he got as a contender, or what even happened to him. I used to watch this thing in the UK called "KOTV" which was on really late at night and would show the cards from America like ESPN Fights etc, the lower budget shows etc. But pretty sure he was like 15-0 ish back then, around the time of the first Contender show. I've tried searching BoxRec for Super Middles and Light Heavies named "Joe" and there's about 30,000 results haha!

                Scott Pemberton?

A lot of guys match most of those things. No one seems to match them all.

                  Haha!

Apologies for not returning to this thread sooner. I believe the fighter I had in mind was actually . At one point he was 15-0, 16-0 and talked of as a decent U.S. prospect. I could never remember what became of him, but his career did indeed peter out. No idea where I got the idea of a ***ish/German sounding surname...
