Awesome fights that could have happened, but didn't

A fight that occurred after its expiration date is a fight that did not happen, in my book. Therefore, Pacquiao/Mayweather was a bout that could have happened but didn't.
Another place some fans are confused with the timeline involves Hagler vs Monzon. Hagler was just a fry in the ring when Monzon retired, just as Liston was still a fry when Marciano retired.
There are so many fights I would have loved to have seen that it is hard to recall them. Pryor/Duran was entirely possible. No one ever got around to making it.
Arguello vs Sanchez would have been interesting. Was that one feasible, or has my timeline blurred again?

At the time there was talk of a fight, Arguello was moving up to junior welterweight in anticipation of a bout against Pryor. In any event, even at lightweight, it would be asking a lot for Sanchez to move up two weight classes from featherweight to junior lightweight to lightweight to fight Arguello. So, IMO, while theoretically feasible, not likely.

The Duran/Pryor fight was made and was to be held in April, 1981 following Duran's "No Mas" effort against SRL. However, Pryor's new manager pulled out of the fight. IMO, just as well for Pryor whose chin was borderline glass. Duran would have starched him.
Later on Pryor was scheduled to fight SRL but SRL suffered a detached retina and retired leaving Pryor to console himself with crack *******.
