Why didn't Tyson and Foreman ever fight?

George Foreman in his 2nd career always talked about wanting to fight against Mike Tyson and was confident he would beat him "in the same fashion" as his other fights "in just 1 or 2 rounds".

I've also read rumors that Tyson was afraid to fight him. Not sure if it's true or not though.

Also, do you think they would eventually have fought if Mike had not went to prison?

I was always under the impression that the biggest obstacle was George not being agreeable to working with Don King.

There's the article that has a long story about Tyson ducking Foreman, I forget the writer's name. It's the only case where I see this claim though so I was always sceptical about the notion of Tyson being scared to death and ducking Foreman.

That was true that Foreman refused to work with Don King. I also heard and read that King refused to let Tyson anywhere near Foreman because it was too dangerous a fight for Tyson.

the risk of the baddest man on the planet to an overweight Reverend would not have justified the reward

If Foreman had given King future options on him this fight would have happened for sure. But if nothing else, George was a smarter businessman in his second career.

I seem to recall some lil story about why that fight never came off that I read a couple months ago, but idr the details...so I guess it wasn't that interesting lol.

Anyway that would've been a fun fight to watch. Two of the most feared punchers in HW history.

If only Tyson had made that decision from the start...
